QAnon Shaman Says He Lost Faith in Trump When He Pardoned Lil Wayne and Not Him

The man who became known as the “QAnon Shaman” says he has lost his faith in former President Donald Trump after he failed to pardon him and instead did so for rapper Lil Wayne, The Daily Mail reports. Furthermore,  in his bail motion, Jacob Chansley said he plans to dedicate his life to “not harming any living being.”

Court documents released Tuesday and obtained by Law & Crime note that lawyers for Chansley, who participated in the deadly riots at the Capitol building on Jan. 6 while wearing face paint and a fur hat with horns, and no shirt, wrote that Chansley was forced to denounce his faith in the former president.

“After the defendant noted former President Trump’s pardoning of his friends and colleagues and Lil Wayne, the defendant was compelled to reconcile his prior faith in Trump,” the documents say.

At other times Chansley’s lawyers have also said “his current ‘self-analyzing’ is a work in progress one which has given rise to his conclusion that he has zero interest in dealing with and addressing all matters political.”

They added he would rather “focus his energies and efforts on strengthening his commitment to his faith and to the principle of Ahimsa, being one which promotes living a life which does no harm to any living being, regardless of its size and complexity.”

Chansley has also apologized in his bail motion and said he regrets being part of the insurrection at the Capitol. He’s been in jail for nearly two months now and claims he’s come to realize he shouldn’t have broached the Capitol building.

That’s all well and good but we need to remember he took place in a violent insurrection in which people died. The mob that burst through those capitol doors was threatening very real harm to former Vice President Mike Pence and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. And according to authorities, Chansley was one of the first people to enter the Capitol building. They allege he disobeyed orders from an officer to leave and that he refused to allow the officer to use his megaphone to tell the mob to leave the Senate chambers. Authorities also say he wrote a note to Pence, telling him: “It’s only a matter of time. Justice is coming.”

Chansley may very well be repentant and it’s good that he now seems to see Trump for what he is, it’s also important to consider what could have happened if he and his fellow insurgents had been successful.

Because they very nearly were.
