Conservatives are Bragging That Kim Jong Un Will ONLY Speak to Trump, Not Biden

IF Donald Trump’s love affair with Kim Jung-Un had resulted in measurable improvements in the U.S.-North Korean stand-off, this would be a regrettable situation. But given the fact that despite all the love between the two men, North Korea’s military stands even stronger today against the United States, this would seem to be a net gain, though MAGA sites are not framing it as such.

It seems that Kim Jong-Un is a MAGA and “his president” resides in Florida, Kim doesn’t acknowledge the current White House occupant. Perhaps it is not that extreme. But the New York Post (MAGA site) considers this a problematic development in the American-North Korean relationship:

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has been giving President Biden the cold shoulder — a sharp contrast to his relationship with his predecessor Donald Trump.

A Biden administration official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Reuters the White House reached out to Kim “through several channels starting in mid-February, including in New York.”

“To date, we have not received any response from Pyongyang,” the official added. Those meetings will most likely highlight concerns about North Korea’s nuclear weapons program, Reuters reported.

Cold shoulder or warm shoulder, North Korea’s nuclear program progressed unabated during the Trump years. Generally, this would be the measure used to determine whether the personal relationship between leaders is successful or not. The diplomatic community – and every other president – cares far less about what leaders think of each other personally and far more about serving their nation’s best interests. This was never the case with Trump, who loved to talk about how nicely he was treated by certain countries. To Trump, this alone seemed to be enough to award concessions and waive away some American demands.

Given this reality, Americans are likely better off having a president with a chilly relationship vis a vis North Korea, over the chummy one that allowed North Korea to get away with whatever they wanted.

Sadly, conservatives, who often describe themselves as “patriots” are just loving this. They are happy a horrible dictator will only speak to Trump, and not the current president.
