REPORT: ‘It is Getting Dangerous’ as Country Stares Down MAGA/QAnon ‘March 4th Conspiracy Theorists’

We have previously reported on the reasons that March 4th has been circled on the calendar for some time among the conspiracy theorists. It has something to do with an 1871 law that the Sovereign Citizens movement say made the United States a corporation rather than a nation, along with the fact that the original inauguration date was March 4th until it was changed in the early 1900s. Really, these people are just reaching for anything. They have also proven to be really dangerous, at least at times.

It is hard to discern whether March 4th – Thursday – presents an increased level of danger, or at least significantly so.

On CNN, Donnie O’Sullivan answered Erin Burnett’s question as to whether he sees a significant threat from conspiracy theorists over the March 4th date. O’Sullivan said that the danger really arises out of anything that gives these people hope. The fact that troops didn’t HALO down on January 20th and arrest everyone on the steps of the Capitol necessitated a new plan, new hope:

“I would say a lot of the rhetoric is getting more dangerous. This whole idea of March 4th came about after the inauguration of Joe Biden because, you’ll remember in the days leading up to the inauguration, QAnon followers were convinced that Trump was going to declare martial law and the inauguration would not happen. Obviously, the inauguration did happen, and then they began focusing on the March 4th day. And this is all tied to QAnon followers’ sort of obsession that the military is on their side. That the military is on Trump’s side.”

We are sure that there are plenty in the military that are on Trump’s side but we are also sure that any of the officers promoted even a couple ranks are rational enough thinkers to know that their job is to follow the president of the United States and that president is Joe Biden. The MAQAs are just convinced that all secret and neutral government groups are on their side.

“I’ve heard from QAnon supporters in the past few weeks who have been, look at what is happening in Myanmar, where there has been a deadly military coup, and saying they hope that happens here in the United States of America. That is how perverse this is.”

What happened in Myanmar is sad and complicated (formerly Burma). But it has almost nothing to do with the United States, whether institutional strength goes a long way.

Regardless, O’Sullivan believes there is reason to worry:
