Fox News host Tucker Carlson went full crackpot Tuesday evening, bizarrely talking about “China’s national masculinity problem” because boys are being entirely pampered by their empathetic moms and female teachers while being homeschooled as the pandemic holds sway, Media Matters for America reports.

Oh, the horror, the horror! They might be raising children who actually listen to health officials like Dr. Anthony Fauci. Imagine! Teaching kids to think critically. Carlson talks about that as if it were bad news.

To wit:

“Meanwhile, in China, where the coronavirus originated, a top adviser to the Chinese government declared that the country was experiencing a very different kind of threat, a more profound threat,” Carlson said.

“The problem, he said (per the ‘top adviser’), was a national masculinity crisis. Chinese boys, quote, have been spoiled by housewives and female teachers, and they were becoming, as a result, quote, ‘delicate, timid, and effeminate,'” he added.

Well, if listening to logic and reason makes a person “delicate, timid, and effeminate,” what does that really say about masculinity? “Be stupid and ignorant and you’ll grow up strong?” Carlson’s about one paddle short of a canoe here.

Then his comments go from dumb to dumber, referring to said pampered youngsters.

“In essence, they were becoming people who might listen to people like Tony Fauci. Left unchecked, said the Chinese government adviser, the feminization of Chinese boys would, quote, ‘inevitably endanger the survival and development of the Chinese nation.”

So, according to Carlson’s way of thinking, if you want to grow up strong and hang with the big boys don’t listen to your mom or your teacher. Or medical authorities like Dr. Fauci. Suspend all reality, especially since China is a nation with more than one billion people. A nation that if anything, has had no trouble surviving but faces catastrophic climate change as the world’s largest emitter of greenhouse gases.

So, for those of you moms out there homeschooling your boys, dispense with rational thinking and they’ll be just fine.
