GOP Hypocrisy

GOP Senators Whining That Biden Keeps Passing Bills Without Them, ‘He’s Rubbing Dirt in Our Face!’

Democrats are pushing full steam ahead with an ambitious agenda and leaving Republicans in the dust and some more moderate members of the GOP who thought they might be negotiating with President Joe Biden are now having a hissy fit.

Raw Story reports that members of the so-called G-10, a group of moderate Republicans had hoped to negotiate deals with the White House after having driven COVID-19 response under former President Donald Trump but instead the Democrats have blown right past them, according to Politico. Of course, it also hasn’t helped that members of this group are also considered obstructionists.

“It’s a f*cking nightmare,” one G-10 member complained. “Biden is a horrible villain for us. There are deeply entrenched narratives that have some truth but are no longer totally true. Reporters believe them despite all evidence to the contrary.”

I find it pretty funny that these folks are complaining that the White House is “constantly rubbing dirt in the face of Republicans” by inviting them to key meetings where Senate Democrats wield their narrow majority to push legislation through.

“If you get an invitation to the White House, you go to the White House,” another G-tenner said. “But regardless you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t. When you go to the White House meeting you risk being used in a feigned attempt at bipartisanship. If you don’t go then it’s ‘Oh, Republicans won’t even meet with me.’ It all pivots on whether it’s a genuine offer from the White House or just part of their messaging strategy.”

These Republicans did everything they could to stand in the way of people receiving much-needed stimulus relief. Most are against gun control and have spent the last four years stymieing Democrats at every conceivable opportunity, so I’m afraid I’m short on sympathy for their plight here.

Travis Gettys, writing for Raw Story notes:

“The senators — including Susan Collins (R-ME), Mitt Romney (R-UT), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), and Bill Cassidy (R-LA) — may not like the situation but they grudgingly concede that Biden’s White House has firmly grabbed control of the narrative.”

At least one G-tenner is complaining about gaslighting.

“Everything they support is defined as either COVID relief or infrastructure and everything they oppose is like … Jim Crow voter suppression and evil, and you constantly just feel like you’re in this gaslighting chamber of insanity. But it’s working.”

I’m afraid this gets a tiny violin of sympathy from me. Republicans do nothing but gaslight people so if they’re getting a taste of their own medicine it’s about time.
