WHAT? Facebook’s ‘Oversight Board’ to Determine Whether Trump is ‘ALLOWED’ Back on Platform

This is stunning. Who saw this coming? Who even knew?

Some surely knew, but with all the news this year, from the point at which Trump got dumped from every platform to Biden’s successes, there have been far more deserving issues to cover worry about over the navel-gazing at Facebook. But apparently, it is a possibility that Trump will be allowed back onto the biggest platform on the net, despite not being his favorite. According to Mediaite:

The Facebook Oversight Board, a sort of supreme court that delivers rulings and can overturn moderation decisions made by the platform, will deliver its decision on the fate of former President Donald Trump’s page this week.

“The Oversight Board will announce its decision on the case concerning former US President Trump… on May 5, 2021, at approximately 9:00 a.m. EDT,” the board posted on Twitter.

Alright. First of all, and most obviously, this does not mean that the Oversight Board will rule in favor of Trump. On the other hand, this is Facebook we’re talking about and Facebook seems to be the social media site most willing to humiliate itself by choosing money at every turn, while also practically endangering people with its willingness to use “us.” It seems best to remain very skeptical. Because if Facebook becomes the platform with a monopoly on Trump-MAGA messaging, it will be dangerous and worth a fortune. This is Facebook.

Oversight board, good god…

But we might have better seen this coming because everyone’s favorite CEO, Mark Zuckerberg never said anything about a permanent ban back in January:

“The shocking events of the last 24 hours clearly demonstrate that President Donald Trump intends to use his remaining time in office to undermine the peaceful and lawful transition of power to his elected successor, Joe Biden,” Zuckerberg wrote. “We believe the risks of allowing the President to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great. Therefore, we are extending the block we have placed on his Facebook and Instagram accounts indefinitely and for at least the next two weeks until the peaceful transition of power is complete.”

Well, we certainly hope that the Over “sight” Board sees that Trump has not changed his beliefs, nor his commands to the MAGA cult since the very day that Zuck made his determination. Thus, the rationale for kicking Trump off back then applies equally or more right now.

But call us skeptical and cynical… we’d love to be dead wrong.
