Twitter Eviscerates Former Trump-Barr DOJ Spokesperson for Saying ‘Mueller Largely Exonerated Trump’

Let’s all say it together. “Prosecutors do not exonerate people!”

If a prosecutor declines to file charges, it is not because the police and D.A. found the person to be innocent. It is because there is not enough evidence to file charges. Sure, in certain contexts, amidst an investigation, the police and D.A. may find evidence that someone else committed the crime, but that is entirely different than proving someone is innocent, or “exonerating” the target. The only context in which police work might exonerate a person is when DNA evidence is the sole evidence used convict someone and the DNA evidence later turns out to be wrong.

That’s it.

But that didn’t stop Trump or the Trump administration from claiming that Mueller proved Trump’s innocence, especially with “Russia Russia Russia.” Indeed, the Mueller report documented nearly one-hundred strange interactions between the Trump campaign and Russia. Moreover, the Senate committee investigating the matter did find that Manafort handed critical campaign information over to the Russians. That sounds like campaign collusion to everyone who knows of it.

Last, Mueller himself specifically stated that it was difficult to get a straight story when it came to Russia because so many of the people investigated lied. Note that almost every prosecution was for perjury or making false statements. Mueller also stated that incessant use of WhatsApp (Jared!) made tracking down evidence difficult. The Mueller report specifically said that they didn’t find sufficient evidence to charge him but it doesn’t exonerate Trump, either.

It is probably also best to mention that Mueller found at least ten instances of obstruction of justice. One generally doesn’t obstruct justice unless one is afraid that the truth may be revealed if things aren’t obstructed.

Thus, it was odd and offensive when former DOJ spokesperson Sarah Isgur appeared on “This Week” and proceeded to lie without being challenged by the panelists. She was, however, challenged heavily on Twitter:

Right. Who could’ve guessed? Another attractive Republican blonde sent on television to lie about Trump and the Trump administration crimes. Twitter wasn’t amused:

Typical.
