Election 2020

Eric Trump Screamed at the Trump Campaign’s Data Analysts as His Father’s Election Lead Disappeared

Eric Trump “flipped out” and berated his father’s campaign data analysts at the White House as the results came in on election night, according to a new book by Washington Post reporters Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker, Business Insider reports.

The younger Trump told his friends that his father, Donald Trump would win reelection with 322 electoral votes and when staffers began reporting the opposite was happening he became upset, according to an excerpt from the book I Alone Can Fix It: Donald J. Trump’s Catastrophic Final Year.

“We pay you to do this,” he allegedly shouted at staffers in the White House’s Map Room, which was serving as the campaign’s “war room.” “How can this be happening?”

This bespeaks someone who is used to getting whatever they want when they scream, but that just wasn’t going to happen this time. But the excerpt also notes Trump seemed confused about how votes could continue to be counted as states processed record numbers of absentee ballots, some of which some state legislatures had delayed until Election Day.

“The election is being stolen,” Eric reportedly said. “Where are those votes coming from? How is this legit?”

Spoken like someone who’s used to getting their way. Someone who’s upset that isn’t happening this time.  Ultimately the election wasn’t even close, with Joe Biden garnering 306 electoral votes. Trump never even came close and ultimately won only 232 votes.

Journalist Michael Wolff in his soon-to-be-published book, Landslide: The Final Days of The Trump Presidency, adds that Eric Trump “grilled” staffers after finding out that Fox News called Arizona for Biden before other networks had done so.

“Where are these votes in Arizona coming from? How is this happening?” he allegedly said. “You said we were good.”

Trump was also in yell mode on election night, badgering staffers as his leads in key states like Pennsylvania shrank through the night, per Leonnig and Brucker.

“Why are they still counting votes?” Trump asked his deputy campaign manager Justin Clark, the excerpt reports. “The election’s closed. Are they counting ballots that came in afterward? What the hell is going on?”

Unsurprisingly, spokespersons for Trump and Eric deny that staffers were yelled at according to Leonnig and Rucker. Trump and his children rarely ever hear the word “no,” and they don’t like it when they do. Fortunately, that word stuck as the election concluded and no matter how many times Donald Trump whines about the “stolen election,” he still quite clearly lost.
