This MAGA movement is clearly intensifying what was already a dangerous situation. The stochastic terrorism utilized by Trump and the Right ensures that people will die in the near future (at least in isolated incidents), but now Mo Brooks is calling for a fight in which their own soldiers need to be willing to die for their own country.

How did we get here? Many will say it is the inevitable result of forty years of increasingly aggressive conservative hatred of liberals. It sure sounded like it last night.

U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL), who was one of the very first leaders of Donald Trump‘s January 6 insurrection, on Friday urged GOP voters at a conservative conference to fight and die for America, just like George Washington’s soldiers did at Valley Forge, and telegraphing to them their very “survival” is at stake.

These people keep going back to the 1776 theme. It cannot be by accident. It surely means that they want a new country, a new government, but the country they envision will be imposed on all of us and may result in some being kicked out.

On Friday Brooks told attendees at CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference, that the “choice is simple: We can surrender and submit. Or we can fight back, as our ancestors have done.”

Ancestors? He is not referring to the Dixiecrats, or even the 1930s America First crowd. He is going way back again to 1776.

“That’s the kind of sacrifice that we have to think about and I ask you, are you willing to fight for America? Are you willing to fight for America? Well, the choice is simple: This is how you fight for America. This is what America needs you to do, and you as members of CPAC being here today, you’re the corps. You’re the ones that have to be the Energizer Bunny.”

Mo Brooks is already being sued for inciting the violence on Jan. 6th. His defense is that the White House coordinated with him on what he was to say. Given what he said that day, Trump endorsed him for the open Senate seat in 2022.

But whoever Brooks is speaking “for,” isn’t as important as what he is saying and to whom he is speaking. This is war language; “Be ready to fight and sacrifice lives for your country.” Be ready to start your own country. He also repeatedly used the words. “our ancestors,” which automatically excludes any immigrants and Black Americans (with respect to 1776.).

So dangerous. Will elections ever matter again in America? If a Republican loses, will the Republicans respect the election? No.
