Trump Aide Feared President’s Kids Would ‘Look Like the Beverly Hillbillies’ at Meeting With Royal Family

Stephanie Grisham’s new book that details her term as a top aide to former first lady Melania Trump hasn’t been released just yet, but it’s already the #1 bestseller on Amazon’s list of political leader biographies. It’s easy to see why. While Grisham is now expressing regret for working for Donald and Melania Trump, her book is full of salacious details (Melania’s attempts to make her husband jealous by appearing on the arm of a handsome young military man, comes to mind.)

Now, however, another sticky detail has come to light, The Daily Mail reports. Apparently, Melania Trump’s chief of staff was worried that Trump’s children would embarrass the U.S. during a 2019 state dinner with Queen Elizabeth in London.

“We’re going to look like the Beverly Hillbillies,” chief of staff Lindsay Reynold’s told Grisham, according to her book. “We’ll be an embarrassment to the whole country.”

Well, she needn’t have worried about that. Their father had embarrassed the country often enough before that, with his 30,000+ lies that he told during his term in office. Something that The Washington Post faithfully kept track of.

Originally a 2016 campaign aide, Grisham became Melania’s spokeswoman. She was promoted to White House press secretary and communications director and she worked at those positions for less than a year, from July 2019 to April 2020. After that, she returned to being a spokeswoman for the former first lady and as chief of staff once again.

So if anyone knows the ins and outs of working in the Trump White House, it would be Grisham. And she certainly has a colorful way of describing the situation, saying that working within the Trump White House was like being “in a clown car on fire running at full speed into a warehouse full of fireworks.”

But she also writes that Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner tried to finagle themselves into a meeting with Queen Elizabeth II during Trump’s 2019 visit to the UK.

This was, of course, a bureaucratic big, bad, naughty no-no and “would have been seen as a wild breach of protocol,” the Post reports. But when has something like that ever bothered Ivanka or Jared?

Fortunately, that situation was all for naught because not everyone could fit into the presidential helicopter, meaning that Ivanka and Jared had to be content with attending a state dinner.

And apparently, while Dear ol’ dad was president, Ivanka had her own royal nickname: “Princess,” which, according to Grisham, Melania enjoyed calling her. As for Kushner, Grisham dubbed him the “Slim Reaper,” for his habit of barging in on projects that had originally been intended for other people.

What a family. If you ask me, The Beverly Hillbillies probably would have done a better job in the White House. Even Jethro, who almost seems like Einstein when compared to Eric Trump.

Grisham’s book I’ll Take Your Questions Now: What I Saw At The Trump White House is scheduled for release on October 5.
