Chris Christie Tells GOP Donors That Trump Lost, PERIOD, and it’s Time to Move On, ‘It is Over’

Chris Christie stood up on Saturday night and delivered a speech that the Republicans had to hear. According to CNN, Christi warned the audience of GOP donors that they will jeopardize their opportunity in 2022 if they don’t put Trump and all his baggage behind them. In other words, get over it, move on, and use Trump in a positive way when he is capable of acting in a manner positive to the party.

CNN did not cite the dimension in which all the above will or could happen. Regardless, according to the report:

While the others have largely tip-toed around the former President, Christie was the only one to argue that Tuesday night’s Republican gains — namely winning Virginia’s gubernatorial race and keeping New Jersey’s much closer than expected — demonstrated that the party must chart a new path forward that advances beyond the grievance politics that have defined the Trump era.

Christie went on to say that if the party (presumably this includes Trump) can’t move on, it jeopardizes the gains made last week. That part is certainly true. Potential 2022 voters want to hear about what might happen in 2023 and 2024, not hear about “75 million votes, can you believe that? They said if you get …” and yet deep down, everyone knows, that narcissistic injury is going to be front and center in Trump’s mind, guaranteed.

In a subsequent interview with CNN, Christie said that with the 2022 elections looming, it is time for Trump to decide whether he wants to be ‘a leader for tomorrow or a figure of yesterday.’ He added that he believes Trump can be a ‘very positive force for Republican candidates’ in 2022 if he will ‘begin talking about the future and tell the truth about the election and move on.’ But he acknowledged that he had ‘not a clue’ about whether Trump would heed that advice.”

Ha ha ha ha. That Chris Christie, he’s always been hilarious. Sure. Right. Definitely. Trump is sitting back considering “heeding” Christie’s advice right now and not plotting how to arrange to dump Christie’s body 100 miles off the New Jersey coast. If we know anything about Trump, it’s that he’s a deliberate guy who won’t make a rash decision in the moment, he’s going to talk to his closest advisors, look at some data, research historical precedent, and certainly will consider Christie a valuable voice who just wants the best for the country and the Republican party, same as Trump.

Sorry, everyone deserved a good laugh.  And got one.
