OMG: MAGA Sen. Roger Wicker Wouldn’t ‘Rule Out Nukes’ Against Russia in Ukraine

Russia is set to have 175,000 troops poised on the Ukrainian border by January. According to the NYT article linked above, the threat comes from Putin’s mindset (and the Russian people’s) that the shared language and culture means that Ukraine is, in reality, a part of Russia.

Until 2014, Ukraine had a Russian friendly president who was quite happy to work with Putin, and that “work” with Putin meant access to the Black Sea, which was a big part of why Putin “annexed” Crimea back in 2014 and promptly got Russia booted out of the G-8 along with a lot of other sanctions.

There are many people who describe Russia as the most paranoid nation on earth and a lot of that paranoia arises out of the fact that for centuries the country lacked any sort of blue water port. Ukraine has plenty of ports in the Black Sea, which – though various straights, links to the Mediterranean Sea. That’s about as good as it’s going to get for paranoid Russia. That and the “culture.”

There is also the fact that a working democracy on Russia’s border threatens Russia far more than NATO. Ukraine is a democracy and is part of NATO, sort of. It remains to be seen whether an attack on Ukraine would rally the rest of NATO to fight Russia on its border.

Some Republicans absolutely believe that the United States should fight for Ukraine… from above, mostly. The United States has great bombs. We even have great nuclear bombs, if such a thing even exists, which they don’t.

Tonight, Senator Roger Wicker (MAGA-Miss) said that the United States should help the Ukraine and he wouldn’t rule out bombing and wouldn’t rule out nuclear bombs!

Evidently, Roger Wicker remains unaware of the fact that Russia possesses nuclear bombs themselves and, if one were to be dropped on their troops, it makes it fairly likely that some would be dropped on ours, changing the world for at least one century (in terms of posture and assumptions), perhaps much longer. Never mind the radiation in the area and other areas, wherever bombs happen to be dropped.

If you needed another reason to be thankful that Trump isn’t… umm, we wouldn’t be dropping nuclear bombs on Russian troops if Trump was president. Thankfully, we won’t be dropping nuclear bombs while Biden is president, either.

Ease up there, hoss.
