Election 2020

The ‘Bonnie & Clyde of MAGA World’ Have Turned on Trump — Now Spilling the Beans to the J6 Committee

A couple known as “The Bonnie and Clyde of MAGA World” is spilling some pretty major beans on some important folks who played key roles in the Jan. 6 insurrection at the White House. Dustin Stockman and Jennifer Lynn Lawrence were involved in planning and promoting pro-Trump events in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 6.

Now they are coming forward to share their story before scheduled testimony in front of the House committee investigating the attack gets underway next week, People reports. Both were subpoenaed by lawmakers in November. They have been identified as previously anonymous sources quoted in reports about working with members of Congress and with former President Donald Trump’s team to plan the rally where he spoke, encouraging his supporters to “fight much harder” and “stop the steal.”

The couple met while working on Herman Cain’s 2012 presidential campaign and have devoted their lives to right-wing political activity. In October they told Rolling Stone they were having conversations with Marjorie Taylor Greene, Paul Gosar, Lauren Boebert, Madison Cawthorne, Mo Brooks, Andy Biggs, and Louie Gohmert or members of their staff. The subject? Planning events to support overturning the results of the 2020 election, which President Joe Biden won quite handily.

So this couple met with the most odious members of Congress and perhaps everyone thought they’d feel like the cat who ate the canary. It looks for all the world like some of them may be eating crow instead.

“We would talk to Boebert’s team, Cawthorn’s team, Gosar’s team like back to back to back,” one unnamed member of the couple said.

Now, however, Stockton and Lawrence have dropped their requests for anonymity and are making their feelings known about their roles in the Jan. 6 events and voicing disgust at the violence that occurred.

“We’re turning it all over and we’ll let the cards fall where they may,” Stockton tells Rolling Stone in a new account published Tuesday. “The people and the history books deserve a real account of what happened.”

Lawrence had her own two cents to add.

“Violent sh*t happened,” she says. “We want to get to the bottom of that.”

Well hey, girlfriend, the House Select Committee also wants to do that. And the Committee has sent letters to the couple, alerting them to subpoenas that will compel them to produce documentation and to testify later this week.

Lawrence and Stockton say they plan to cooperate.

“We’ve seen what happened with Bannon, and we don’t have the resources that a Steve Bannon has, Stockton says. That was in reference to the federal indictment Bannon received in November. “Our options are, in a lot of ways limited.”

Politico recently dubbed Stockton and Lawrence “The Bonnie and Clyde of MAGA World, and they have a lengthy history of helping right-wing causes. They have been known for fundraising, consulting, and staging media stunts prior to Trump’s becoming president. Trump’s constant gloating and seemingly populist policies drew the couple in and they became popular among MAGAmaniacs.

The couple also foolishly believed Trump’s false claims about election fraud and traveled all over the U.S. holding events to support his lies.

What’s that saying? Oh yeah, “stupid is as stupid does.” It eventually began to dawn on them that their path wasn’t so rosy after all. Before Jan. 6, Lawrence and Stockton say they began to feel “let down by what they saw as a lack of gratitude from the Trump administration.”

Well duh, people, duh.

“Their hoped-for administration jobs, possibly an overseas posting, never arrived … They wanted Fox News appearances, and social media clout, but had trouble locking down both,” per Politico.

Stockton notes “If you go to work, you eventually become the focus of the attack, and when they do, they just dump you.”

Again I say, “well duh.”

When the violence began to unfold Stockton and Lawrence say they were in a hotel room at the Willard InterContinental as Trump supporters broke through the barricades outside the Capitol building. They say they are angry over what happened.

“As this was unfolding on the television, I was asking ‘Where is Trump? Why hasn’t he come out and made a statement?'” Lawrence wondered in the Rolling Stone report. “It was too long before he came out and made a statement. Like, why are we waiting? This is so opposite of what we represent. You should want to denounce this immediately,”

But the couple also said they weren’t surprised when the violence broke out, adding they had warned officials, including former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.

“We had been, like since November … trying to raise the red flag that hey, like not everybody on our side has the same outlook of, like, what this should look like,” Lawrence adds.

Stockton says he wants to make it clear that he forcefully condemns the violence.

“I wanted to go nuclear,” he tells Rolling Stone. “We were pushing hard and put a plan together to hold a press conference … to fully denounce and take all questions from everybody.”

The couple says they want to cooperate with the House investigation and add that they are openly speaking to Rolling Stone to set the record straight.

There is, of course, some speculation that the pair’s motivation for “turning it all over” and “letting the cards fall where they may” may also stem from their disillusionment with Trump and what the couple calls his lack of loyalty for those who were arrested and are now facing consequences for their actions (as they should be) to defend him on that tragic day.

“This guy’s sitting on giant gold buildings (I would have said toilets) all over the world with his name on it and we’ve done more to help those people,” Stockton says in the Rolling Stone interview. “It’s f*cking disgusting.”

Well for crying in the beer, how stupid are Stockton and Lawrence anyway. It’s not like this is anything new. Trump has stiffed people for money, made it more than plain that he doesn’t care about anyone except himself. That includes Melania and his kids. He and his kids have stiffed important charities and done whatever he can in the name of making a profit.

I mean do these people need “Trump is a creep” written out in crayon? Sheesh.
