Capitol Rioter Posted a Quote From ‘Game of Thrones’ and It Could Get Him in Serious, Serious Trouble

Also, Caplinger referred to the FBI as the "Federal Bitches of Incompetence" on Twitter. Not a smart move.

Jeremiah Caplinger is among the many who are facing legal consequences for participation in the January 6 Capitol insurrection, but what makes his case particularly interesting is that prosecutors are utilizing a Tweet he sent quoting a Game of Thrones character a few days after the riots. The quote was, “I choose violence,” an excerpt from the character Cersei Lannister, and the lawyers described the plot of the episode it takes place in to prove Caplinger’s intent on that day.

The Tweet read: “As said by Cersei Lannister, ‘I choose violence” and was accompanied by a picture of a soldier from the American Revolution. The prosecution highlighted this social media post explaining who Cersei Lannister is and how she then kills many people in the episode as she says this.

They described it by saying that Cersei used a “weapon of mass destruction to blow up one of the largest and most important buildings in the capital city. […] In stating, ‘I choose violence’, Cersei Lannister embraced- and then carried out- mass murder to achieve her political ends.” While Caplinger may not have gone quite this far on January 6, he is reported to have scaled a wall, entered politicians’ offices, and even come fully equipped with body armor on.

Caplinger did plead guilty to stepping on, climbing, removing, or injuring property on Capitol grounds. During an interview with MLive last year, he says that he did that because former president Trump inspired him. In Caplinger’s own words, “I think it was a great stupid thing when it came to breaking and destroying things, sure… But I will not sit here and allow people to constantly demonize, patronize, criticize and try to ostracize Trump supporters for doing what they believe in.”
