Dr. Oz’s Senate Campaign is Reportedly a Freaking Mess and It’s Not Looking Good for Dr. Quack

The trend of celebrities running for political office is getting more and more prominent every year. Despite this, fame does not guarantee political victory, as Dr. Oz is finding out in his embarrassing run for a Senate seat. He is running as a Republican in Pennsylvania (despite technically living in New Jersey), but his well-funded campaign is not turning out in his favor.

Money may be power, but the $5 million that the TV host has spent on campaign ads isn’t buying him any votes, and in a recent Politico survey, he received only one vote out of 100. Politico had more to say on the subject as well. While they clarify that their polls are “not surveys of the actual electorate,” they still believe that the results are a good indication that voters don’t trust the doctor.

From Politico:

The straw poll results in the Senate race are not binding, and they’re not surveys of the actual electorate. Many political operatives expect that the state Republican Party ultimately will decline to endorse in the primary this year — giving state committee members much less power than they would otherwise have. But the fact that Oz has stumbled out of the gate in this first test among GOP activists has exposed vulnerabilities in his past record and raised questions about whether rank-and-file voters will also turn their backs on him once they learn more about him.

Former President Donald Trump has supported Dr. Oz’s campaign so far, but he may be second-guessing his endorsement now that it looks like the TV star won’t be as successful as he was during his race. One possible reason for Oz’s inability to satisfy Republican voters could be that he has been exposed to have supported liberal bills in the past, such as the Affordable Care Act.

The candidate doesn’t just rub Republican voters the wrong way. Other doctors continually criticize him for his questionable medical practices and advice, such as when he recently uploaded a video of himself doing a blood pressure check completely wrong. This came on top of another scandal where the doctor and his wife Lisa accidentally cussed out a reporter they thought they had hung up on- but she was still on the phone to hear the whole thing.
