Someone came up with the idea to send Trump electoral votes from each “close” state to Washington DC. Given that the same plan found itself playing out in states from the Midwest to Nevada and Pennsylvania points to centralized planning and that is a very bad thing for Trump and his supporters in Congress.

Thanks to a great legal analysis provided to Rawstory, we see cracks beginning to form in the entire foundation of the “Rigged!” plan, including what was to happen on January 6th. It might have involved actually giving Mike Pence two sets of electors and thus needing to send it back to the states.

The biggest problem for those “centralized” people who came up with the plan, people who had to be very high up, is there is no motivation for any of these strangers out in the heartland to take the fall for any of them and will likely talk about how they were approached and what they were told.

According to Lindsay Beyerstein, writing for Rawstory, the developing story is giving Merrick Garland almost no choice but to charge those involved (something he seemed loathed to do beforehand):

They signed forged paperwork and sent it to the government. It’s an open-and-shut case, but investigators could parlay this into something much bigger than prison terms for a few dozen local GOP operatives.

In a group of nearly 60 people facing serious prison time, at least some of them will be willing to implicate the higher ups to save themselves.

Correct, there is not a lot of nuance to this and the signature alone could be a crime. Some of the smarter ones, such as those in Pennsylvania and Nevada required additional language before they would add their signatures, something predicated upon a judge’s finding. It serves to make the others look worse.

“Once those individuals see that they could possibly be facing prison time, I do think we’re going to see some people flip and we’ll get some further information as to who orchestrated this in the first place,” Michigan attorney general Dana Nessel told MSNBC viewers last week, adding that, “It may go all the way to the top.

True, and in this case “top” almost surely represents Mark Meadows because of Trump’s proclivity to keep himself separated and “arguably” detached from the specifics in any particular plan.

“[The fake electors] are counting on Pence and congressional Republicans to treat those informal votes as equal to the slates certified in those states where Trump was defeated.”

They “were” counting upon it all happening but it never did come together and – again, we have a situation where Merrick Garland is almost forced to act. He cannot have fake electors with fake certificates sitting out there that he doesn’t do anything about.

He has done a fantastic job in ignoring the entire January 6th issue until now but is going to have it harder and harder in the future.

The cracks are starting to form and they are going to have increasing trouble keeping the entire matter from spilling out into the open.
