Matt Gaetz’s Ex-Girlfriend Was Just Granted Immunity in Exchange for Her Testimony

A week ago we reported that Matt Gaetz’s ex-girlfriend testified to the Grand Jury after a reported “deal” with the prosecutors. The implication in all of these is that the witness’s attorney (not the witness) gives the prosecutors a “proffer,” as in – “she is willing and able to testify to “blank,” in exchange for “blank.””

The prosecutors then meet with their supervising attorney(s) and discuss the pros and cons of the deal. The deal often involves significantly reduced charges and an agreement as to the recommendation in sentencing. Judges always retain the right to sentence a person and do not need to go by any recommendation, but judges nearly always follow the recommendations or people wouldn’t make deals with prosecutors.

Today, we just learned that the “deal” was total immunity. According to CBS News:

Prosecutors granted immunity to an ex-girlfriend of Representative Matt Gaetz before she testified last week in front of a federal grand jury hearing evidence in the investigation of the congressman, according to a source familiar with the matter…

… The woman, who CBS News is not naming to protect her privacy, testified in front of a federal grand jury in Orlando last Wednesday. She is viewed as a potential key witness, according to two sources familiar with the investigation. One of the sources said she has information related to the investigation of both the sex trafficking and obstruction allegations.

We have no facts to support the following statement. None. But we believe and guess that there is a good chance that the witness they are talking about is the girl who was 17 at the time Gaetz was traveling with her.

Why would she need immunity? Why would she be worried about a crime? She had turned 18 before the investigation started. If she lied to the FBI, if she covered up evidence, if she called others to say “Don’t tell them that…” all are crimes, all could be prosecuted.

But if there was ever a situation where you would want to perhaps be lenient with a potential defendant and want to get THE only real evidence they need, this would be the situation. IF the “ex-girlfriend” (name held in the interest of privacy) then she’s been used as a child and then dealing with powerful people, angry powerful people, in the media, being blamed, nowhere to turn, all at a very very young age. Put simply, we have no proof of anything, but an immunity deal really only makes sense if it is the victim herself.

Gaetz is fckt. It is already in front of a Grand Jury. He will be indicted and thus he will go to trial. It is very tough to win these types of trials. “How old were you?” And did you touch “X” (It does not require ‘everything’),… “Yes.” The entire rest of the trial is an attempt to convince the jury that the girl is lying.

That’s it.

But there are more serious charges involving travel, money, etc. where her testimony would also be part of a larger investigation.
