Trump Describes His Own Presidency as a ‘Very Beautiful and Maybe Romantic Time’ as Well as ‘Glamourous’

Former President Donald Trump is still indulging his delusional fantasies of his days in the White House. Appearing on Fox & Friends Saturday he touted his new book and spoke about his “romantic” days in office, The Independent reports. He described his presidency as “glamorous” and listed Iran, China, and Russia (of course) as countries that he believed “respected” the U.S. while he was president.

While he talked himself up on the show, let’s remember those fun four years were marred by a deadly insurrection that resulted in his second impeachment, a probe into Russian involvement in the election, and high-paced staff turnover among other things.

But Trump doesn’t seem to see it that way.

“Our country was thriving,” he said. “We were beating everybody.”

“They viewed it as a romantic period, I think, and I think that’s really why it’s doing so well because there’s a lot of romance to the book,” he said, plugging his memoir Our Time Together.

Yeah, it’s really romantic when people die from an epidemic that you could have prevented but didn’t. Because you’d rather promote dumb and dangerous cures like bleach and hydroxychloroquine and undermine the scientists on your Coronavirus task force that YOU appointed to do their jobs.

There was definitely no romance between Trump and the press unless you count “Infowars,” “Newsmax,” or the “One America News Network” as news.  Trump never seemed to mind yelling at and excoriating journalists from more credible news outlets like CNN, and newspapers like The Washington Post and The New York Times if they asked questions that made him uncomfortable.

When you become president, journalists and other members of the press are part and parcel of the package and it was all too easy for them to get under his skin. Most of us wish he’d given that more thought when he applied for the job.

Instead, he continues to paint a fanciful picture of his days at the White House.

“Despite all of that, they view it as a very glamorous time because our country was doing so well, and we were respected us. Putin respected us, and President Xi of China respected us,” he said. “Kim Jong-un respected us. They all did. I tell you, Iran respected us.”

“People viewed it as a very beautiful and maybe romantic time in a sense, despite all of the nonsense by the other side, the radical left.”

Meanwhile, as he’s fawning over himself, he’s facing increasing scrutiny over materials that were removed from the White House, somehow making their way to Mar-a-Lago, his home in Florida. Officials have recovered 15 boxes of materials and they have been returned to the National Archives.

House investigators have opened a probe into this and the National Archives have asked the Justice Department to look into this.
