‘We Picked a Bad Week’: MAGA Truckers Whine That Ukraine is Taking All the Attention From Them

A number of trucker convoys throughout the U.S. are slowly making their way to Washington, D.C. but most have been plagued by problems along the way and more than a few of these MAGA-loving fools are out of sorts because something that’s actually more important is understandably getting more attention than they are.

That’s right: these sad sacks are upset that Ukraine is receiving more attention than they are. But what else do you expect? These people support Donald Trump, and like Trump, they really only care about themselves.

Most of the convoys are trying to emulate the fracas that happened in Ottawa, where there was plenty of havoc to be had for weeks and weeks. Those truckers were heroes to some people but after police were finally able to kick them out of their occupied locations, some people within the American convoys became bitter, Vice News reports.

Now there’s even more bitterness as the truckers enter into the final stretch of their long haul and interest in their “cause” continues to dwindle. Their cause, of course, was to try and put a stop to COVID-19 health measures.

But now the world’s eyes are on the tragedy now happening in Ukraine and more than a few of the MAGA truckers aren’t happy.

“Truckers at this point can’t compete with world events, and if the movement won’t transform and adapt, we won’t have the impact that we want,” wrote one member of prominent Telegram group. “With new events comes new ways to bring freedom. The war in Ukraine shows something important, what it really means to hold the line. Canada truckers failed after two days of police…push.”

Yes, Ukrainians are hanging tough. They have no other choice because the alternative is frightening to think about. And like the people who’ve continually complained about wearing masks, these MAGA truckers are doing this for a stupid cause.

They are protesting COVID health mandates, which for the most part have now been loosened nationwide as cases and hospitalizations continue to decline. But here’s what’s even dumber: The Canadian protests took place in January while Canada still had numerous mandates in place. By contrast, the U.S. protests didn’t get underway until February 23. Meanwhile, the CDC announced last week that most Americans no longer have to worry about wearing masks. Their bellyaching would have made far more sense if they’d gotten an earlier start.

I mean sure, these convoys were promoted heavily by Fox News and GOPers, to begin with, but Russia’s invasion of Ukraine means the attention they received originally has now evaporated from television screens and websites across the U.S.

There’s plenty of complaining and grousing about the Ukraine situation on pages dedicated to these convoys (which, by the way largely consist of pickup trucks and a few big rigs here and there).

“Wasn’t this group originally about the global freedom convoy? How did it get hijacked so easily?” one supporter wanted to know.

Another person whined:

“People now say: Well, those ‘Freedom Truckers’ sure picked a bad week to try and get attention for being victims of tyranny. They are starting to twist the events by saying oh our suffering is somehow much less. NO IT IS NOT!”

Give me a freaking break. Please.

I’m pretty sure there are thousands of Ukrainian people who’d rather be anywhere than where they are right now. But some fool in the U.S. is upset because they had to get vaccines that probably saved their own lives and the lives of others.

So I have an idea: since these members of the “Freedom Convey” don’t feel they are getting enough attention, why don’t they go to Ukraine? They’ll get the attention they crave there. And maybe THEN they can do something useful — create traffic jams for the Russian troops trying to invade.

Then perhaps they will actually be relevant.
