This is an incredible fete.

Marjorie Taylor-Greene is not happy with American society and she knows exactly where the problems begin. They begin with institutions of higher education, America’s colleges and universities.

There are a lot of problems in higher education, the single biggest being the cost to value ratio. A college education used to be a ticket to a good life with a decent salary. No more. Campuses have become yet another means for the Boomer generation to get rich in administration (Not that there are not a TON of fantastic liberal Boomers). Believe it or not, in the 60s and 70s, it was not unusual to have college presidents in their upper 30s and low 40s, something that would be inconceivable today.

And yes, colleges have always bent a little “crazy” left and thank God for that. One should worry about any 20-year old that doesn’t believe that the world cannot be conquered by more love and fairness but just hasn’t learned that it takes more work and incremental success to steer the world in the right direction (and for the most part, it has been steered in the right direction). But higher education does open one’s mind and has been shown to have a lifelong liberal bent. Education is just that way.

Marjorie Taylor-Greene, however, believes that “heresies” like racism and transphobia begin in higher education. Perhaps she is right that once one’s mind is stretched a bit and one appreciates that the world is more complex than it looked in high school, one does appreciate that there are more systemic racism and gender equality issues, among a great many other entrenched interests that some try to protect.

Perhaps Marjorie Taylor-Greene is right in that a lot begins in college. It is just that many of us find it to be encouraging, while Marj thinks it’s ruining the country. Oh! And Marj is the only one who could deny that these problems exist while proving that she is part of the problem. Notice that she tosses aside any problems with the LGBTQ community while ripping Pete Buttigieg’s family. And, saying racism doesn’t exist is racist in and of itself.

Breathtaking. She has a unique awfulness to which most wouldn’t even aspire. It ain’t easy being the conscience of the Republican party, Marjorie Taylor-Greene.
