Mo Brooks Testimony Before the Jan 6 Commission Could Really Screw Over Trump BIG TIME

According to Alabama Republican Mo Brooks, Donald Trump actually asked him to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

That’s huge when it comes to the findings of the January 6th Committee in the House of Representatives. Brooks said that Trump asked him to remove Biden from office, roll back the results, and hold a new election.

Brooks was among those Republicans who supported Trump’s efforts to retain office through whatever means necessary. He spoke at the Trump rally that took place before the riot at the Capitol and voted to overturn the 2020 election.

Trump actually un-endorsed Mo Brooks in his Alabama race and that probably pissed Brooks off.

But at a rally last August, Brooks told his supporters that 2020 was over and they should “look forward” to new elections. Trump was displeased and almost immediately put out a statement:

When I heard his statement, I said, ‘Mo, you just blew the Election, and there’s nothing you can do about it.’ Very sad but, since he decided to go in another direction, so have I, and I am hereby withdrawing my Endorsement of Mo Brooks for the Senate,

In the following statement in March, Brooks said,

President Trump asked me to rescind the 2020 elections, immediately remove Joe Biden from the White House, immediately put President Trump back in the White House, and hold a new special election for the presidency. As a lawyer, I’ve repeatedly advised President Trump that January 6 was the final election contest verdict and neither the U.S. Constitution nor the U.S. Code permit what President Trump asks. Period.

Trump accused the right-wing Alabama conservative of “going woke,” a term that Republicans have begun to use as an epithet. “Wokeness,” of course, is simply caring about human rights and other people’s feelings.

Mo Brooks was about as Trumpy as a congressmen could be. But, he did the cardinal sin. He said there was no way for Trump to be reinstated as president, and Trump saw that as disloyalty.

But Trump and others have used the term to describe anything that’s contrary to the extremist conservative agenda.

A letter from the January 6th Committee to Rep Brooks tells him why they are seeking his testimony:

The exchange you have disclosed with the former President is directly relevant to the subject of our inquiry, and it appears to provide additional evidence of President Trump’s intent to restore himself to power through unlawful means.

If Mo Brooks goes under oath and attests to the fact that Trump illegally asked him to override the will of the American voters, it could spell real trouble for the embattled former president.
