Republican Senator Claims it’s Biden’s Fault That ‘Kansas is No Longer a Border State’

Republican Senator Roger Marshall of Kansas made a pretty weird statement over the weekend. He claimed that his home state was “no longer” a border state because of Joe Biden.

Now, it would be some feat indeed if Joe was somehow able to move the state of Kansas from the border to somewhere else. But what’s amazing is that during the life of Senator Marshall, Kansas has never been a border state.

In fact, its current shape is only due to a treaty with Mexico that annexed part of what is now Kansas into the United States well before Kansas even became a state.

Senator Marshall joined the chorus of Republicans complaining about President Biden’s pending cancellation of the Title 42 protections that kept Mexicans from coming to the United States during the pandemic.

Perhaps hanging out with Trump makes you dumb? Remember when Trump said he was building a wall in Colorado, as if it was a border state?

It’s ironic that Republicans are the ones not helping end the pandemic.

In an interview on Fox News, Marshall said,

Joe Biden has to stop sending this signal to everybody. He needs to stop making this a magnet. So this — when he said, when he announced he was ending Title 42, that was the magnet for the rest of the world.

And I just want to circle back on one point. The ranchers I visited with yesterday on their ranches when President Trump was president, they would see one or two dead bodies per year. They have already found a hundred bodies on one ranch year to date right now.

This is why this is important to Kansas. This is why Kansas is no longer a border state.

Marshall gave no explanation for his bizarre comment.

Kansas U.S. Senator Roger Marshall speaks with border patrol officials on tour of Southern Border. May 20, 2022. He even got to look all tough with a flak jacket.

The Senator is just one in a long line of GOP members who were thrilled that former President Trump used that archaic Title 42 protections in order to curb immigration under the guise of protecting public health in the United States.
