As the Jan. 6 Select Committee in Congress reveals more about the events that led up to and unfolded on that horrible day, the GOP is nervously trying to blame everyone but themselves. Mark Levin, a Fox News host, claims that Nancy Pelosi is responsible for the events on January 6th, and believes she should be locked up for it.

Levin stated “Nancy, what did you do on Jan. 6? Can we see your texts, your emails, your documents? Can we talk to your staff under penalty of perjury?” After which Levin added “And if you don’t respond, maybe we should put you in handcuffs and leg irons and throw you in jail with your husband.”

This reveals the pure panic within the GOP, as they are trying everything and anything to distract from the truth of what happened on January 6th. The GOP is aware of their involvement and wants to shift the narrative to convince the public that they are blameless and that it was Pelosi all along. Just last night audio tapes were released that had Kevin McCarthy saying the riots needed to be investigated and people had to be held accountable.

Levin seems to believe that Nancy Pelosi controls the security at the Capitol which isn’t true. Decisions on security are made by several people, including the House Sergeant-at-Arms who reports to Pelosi, and the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms who at the time reported to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and surely something would have been revealed by now if Pelosi had anything to do with it.

PolitiFact rated the claim that Pelosi was responsible for security that day as “mostly false.”

The GOP has continually tried to claim that Pelosi refused to request assistance from the National Guard prior to the riot, which was a decision that was actually made by officials including the sergeants-at-arms.

Nothing will come from these false allegations against Pelosi and other Democrats as the GOP tries to deflect blame and disguise the truth of what unfolded on January 6th.
