Michael Cohen Says Peter Navarro Has Made a HUGE Mistake and Will End Up in Prison Because of It

Michael Cohen, former President Donald Trump’s onetime personal attorney sat down for an interview with Ari Melber on MSNBC’s The Beat, and he noted that Peter Navarro, the Trump administration’s former trade advisor, who was charged with Contempt of Congress Tuesday, is in for a terrible time, Raw Story reports.

Cohen said Navarro is dragging himself down with a bunch of unnecessary legal problems. Of course, Cohen is no stranger to legal problems, having done his own time in prison in connection with a scheme to provide hush payments via Trump. He told Melber that Navarro is destroying his own future for no good reason whatsoever.

“What do you think of the potential Trump defense, which we may hear about during these hearings as they start next week, that they tried everything, but when they got near a line, he backed off,” Melber said. “He didn’t as you say, didn’t really go to the military. Tried Pence. It sort of ended there. What about that defense?”

“Nonsense,” Cohen said. “It’s not real. It’s not legitimate. It’s a lie. Something that Donald is so good at doing. Blatantly lies right to your face and says the same lie over and over again. For what purpose? Ultimately the lie becomes the truth. That’s what he wants. Peter Navarro is making a terrible mistake. He’ll end up in prison. He’s foolish. And yes he’s right. One quarter of his life could be in prison. If you’re watching, I hope you are, you don’t want to go there. It’s terrible. Removed from your family and friends. They destroy your name, your reputation. All for who? All for what? For Donald Trump? For democracy? To be, the democracy in peril? Seriously. What are you thinking?”

Cohen also shredded Navarro’s allegations of misconduct by federal officials.

“What legacy do you want to leave your children, grandchildren, and God willing, great-grandchildren?” Cohen asked. “Not the legacy you’re leaving now. Which he looks like a fool. Oh my God. Went ahead, picked me up at the airport. It’s unconstitutional. First of all, Peter Navarro is not a lawyer. I don’t think he understands. He has a Ph.D in economics. Stick to what he knows. What he’s saying now makes him look stupid.”

Of course, Cohen speaks with authority here. He pleaded guilty in 2018 to charges tied to tax evasion and lying to Congress as it investigated Russian interference in the 2016 election, NBC News reports. And then, of course, there were aforementioned hush payments to two women who alleged they had affairs with Trump.

Whatever you might think of Cohen, he’s paid his dues. He found out the hard way that Trump doesn’t care about anyone and doesn’t care who he hurts in order to get what he wants. Too bad the MAGA crowd that hangs on his every word never seems to figure that out.

I’ve included a clip of Cohen and Melber discussing the situation below.
