‘That’s Direct Evidence of Trump’s Criminal Intent’: Many Convinced Trump Can Already Be Proven Guilty After First Hearing

WOW, what a night.

We have been waiting for this night for a long time…the first hearing showing evidence that Donald Trump was responsible for what happened on January 6th, 2021, and boy, it did not disappoint.

The select committee offered an overview of its findings that Trump was at the heart of a multi-stage attempted coup to retain power, and showcased bits of testimony from former Attorney General Bill Barr, Capitol rioters, a Capitol police officer, a documentary filmmaker, Proud Boys, and even Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump and son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Chairman Thompson didn’t mince his words in his opening speech on Thursday evening, saying, “Donald Trump was at the center of this conspiracy, and ultimately, Donald Trump, the President of the United States, spurred a mob of domestic enemies of the Constitution to march down the Capitol and subvert American democracy.”

We saw a short clip of video testimony from Ivanka, part of the eight hours she spent before the committee. Ivanka was asked about Barr’s assertion that there was no fraud to be found to overturn the presidential election.

“It affected my perspective,” Ivanka Trump said. “I respect Attorney General Barr. So I accepted what he was saying.”

The hearing was truly brutal.

There was so much evidence that showed Trump was behind it all:

I want ONE Trump supporter to excuse or explain this. Just ONE.

This is particularly chilling, “Trump asked us to come”:

But, what was reassuring, was all the people, including attorneys, who felt just what was shown on Thursday night was enough to prove he was guilty.

For example, George Conway:

MSNBC’s Katie Phang:

And Twitter overall was absolutely shocked at what they saw:

It’s hard to know when to stop. Everything we learned was just so shocking. Trump actually said he thought his vice president deserved to be hung. Shouldn’t that alone be enough to keep him from ever running for public office again? And this was just the first public hearing. The committee plans to hold several hearings in June and July. The next two are scheduled for Monday and Wednesday, with both slated to start at 10 a.m. ET.
