Josh Hawley’s Home State Newspaper Calls Him a ‘Fleeing Coward’ in BRUTAL Op-Ed

‘Josh Hawley is a laughingstock' - We Couldn't Agree More!

Ah, I love myself some comeuppance in the morning! (Or early afternoon, depending on where you are.)

The home state paper of Missouri Senator Josh Hawley absolutely eviscerated the Republican as a “fleeing coward” following Thursday night’s hearing that showed footage of Hawley running through the Capitol halls away from the Capitol rioters just hours after he was photographed raising a fist in solidarity with the rioters.

“Josh Hawley is a laughingstock,” wrote the editorial board for the Kansas City Star, the newspaper that covers the city where Hawley spent most of his childhood and adolescent years. And it’s no shabby paper either, having once been the home of Ernest Hemingway.

The op-ed explains how during Thursday night’s televised prime time hearing, Rep. Elaine Luria (a new hero of mine) showed a clip of the junior senator “that will surely follow him the rest of his life”. As it should.

“In the clip, Hawley sprints across a hallway as he and his fellow senators are evacuated after insurrectionists had breached the Capitol building. When it went across the screen, the audience in the room with the committee erupted in laughter,” the editorial continues, before highlighting the irony that the conservative lawmaker who frequently totes the decline of American masculinity as a “dire threat to society” was captured running away from the same rioters he just hours before was cheering on with his infamous raised fist photo.

“A signature Hawley issue is masculinity — as in, how little of it American men seem to have these days,” the Kansas City Star wrote. “Twitter didn’t see much bravado as he ran from the mob on Luria’s video.”

Twitter had an absolute field day with Hawley, and #HawlinAss was trending most of the night. In one viral thread, Twitter user @The_Mal_Gallery added music to the now famous scene of Hawley running away like a little bitch (definitely not masculine!), including everything from Benny Hill, to Chariots of Fire, to Bruce Springsteen’s amazing classic “Born to Run”.

The op-ed then got serious, noting that 7 people died as a result of the attack on the Capitol and some 150 law enforcement officers were injured “and it’s impossible to know how many others caught up in the horrific event will carry scars for life, of body and mind.”

And according to Mediaite, “Hawley was also called out for his “shameless” in violating copyright laws regarding the famous photo of him raising his fist in support of the Jan. 6 rioters. The editorial notes Hawley has profited of the image taken by photographer Francis Chung and ignored her legal attempts to stop him from monetizing it without her permission:”

Chung’s photo of Hawley and his salute has become iconic. Taking a page from the Trump playbook, Hawley has embraced the famous image, flagrantly violating copyright laws by slapping it on T-shirts and camouflage beer koozies, and selling them on his political campaign’s fundraising website.

Politico, owner of the image, sent a cease-and-desist demanding the merchandise be removed from sale. Of course, Hawley refused — a defiance shameful and shameless in equal measure.

And the editorial wasn’t through with the “Yale and Stanford” graduate. The op-ed finished up by slamming Hawley for going along with Trump’s “big lie” and attempting to overturn the 2020 election.

“Shame, clearly, is not a motivating factor for any number of Republicans still caught up in Trumpworld. Hawley has never apologized for attempting to reinstall a man who everyone around him knew had lost the election, as witness testimony continues to confirm,”

The editorial is HERE and really worth a read. But luckily the people of Missouri will know what a true coward Hawley is. When other lawmakers remained in the Capitol and protected others, Hawley was running away like a scaredy cat.
