Trump Now Laughably Claims He ‘Doesn’t Even Recognize’ Cassidy Hutchinson Despite Her Working Near Him for a Year

Former President Donald Trump is still ranting about the latest group of people he loves to vilify: Cassidy Hutchinson (of course), Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), and Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.).

He aired his latest grievances Sunday on his Truth Social platform, incited by Lofgren’s television appearance. Lofgren is a member of the House Select committee that’s investigating the storming of the U.S. Capitol building on January 6, 2021, The Independent reports.

“Incredibly, Congresswoman Lofgren of the Unselect Committee said they didn’t call witnesses to corroborate (I’m surprised he knows that word) the testimony of other Fake Witnesses, Like Cassidy Hutchinson, who I barely knew or even recognize, and who lied during her testimony,” Trump complained.

But whether Trump likes it or not, there’s no evidence of any sort to suggest that Hutchinson lied under oath to the committee. And it’s unlikely that she did because lying under oath can result in some heavy penalties. Hutchinson’s testimony was electrifying, especially when she testified that Trump ordered magnetometers to be removed, even though he knew full well that some of those attending the rally in front of the Ellipse were carrying weapons.

Hutchinson spent a lot of time with Kayleigh McEnany who was very close to Trump.

And as The Independent reports, Trump had to know Hutchinson because a list of staff salaries from June 2020 that was published by the White House shows her position as Special Assistant to the President and Coordinator for legislative affairs.

This title is awarded to staff who to White House staffers who are commissioned officers who report directly to the president. Meaning of course, that Trump almost certainly knew her since he likely assigned her to that position.

But not content to simply badger Hutchinson, he also attacked Cheney (again), calling her “Psychco” (sic) and repeating one of his frequent lies — saying he urged the Defense Department to deploy 10,000 active-duty soldiers to secure the Capitol prior to the January 6 joint session of Congress to certify Joe Biden as president. He tried to say that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi refused his request for the troops.

That’s Hutchinson walking down the Colonnade towards the Oval Office. She was about as close to Trump as an aide could be, and there’s no doubt Trump knew who she was.

That’s cute and all but a fact-check by USA Today found there’s simply no truth to this. Period. And The Washington Post also verified this, giving him its famous Four Pinocchios for telling this fanciful tale.

Obviously, Trump is growing more nervous and agitated as the hearings continually link him to the insurrection. After all the things he did to this country, it’s nice to watch him squirm.
