Watergate’s John Dean Says Trump is Screwed BIG TIME, and a Criminal Case is Likely

John Dean is the former White House Counsel to Richard Nixon and he provided crucial testimony during the Watergate investigation, which means he’s been around the block. He knows a thing or two about how investigations such as the one being conducted by the January 6 committee work.

And he believes former President Donald Trump and others in his camp could be facing criminal charges after Congress wraps up its investigation, Mediaite reports.

Appearing on CNN Tuesday, Dean  described the latest witnesses appearing during the ongoing investigation into the January 6 riot as “powerful.” He was referring to testimony provided by former Oath Keepers spokesman Jason Van Tatenhove and Stephan Ayres, who were part of the mob that illegally invaded the Capitol building that day.

“I thought they were powerful witnesses because they were speaking from the heart,” Dean said. “This is what they felt. This is how they had performed. They know they had made a mistake. They’ve rethought their position now and they realize the power of this man. They were really classic authoritarian followers.

Trump, Dean added, knows how to “push the buttons” of his supporters.

Nixon’s former right-hand man said the testimonies and associated evidence that’s provided make it easier for the Justice Department to link Trump to the insurrection. Ayres, Dean added, testified that he went home immediately after Trump put out a tweet requesting his followers to leave. He previously testified that he thought Trump would be joining his supporters at the Capitol. And Van Tatenhove said he and his fellow Oath Keepers fully intended for January 6 to be an “armed revolution.”

Dean is confident that “Trump is in trouble” and noted the former president, along with several of his supporters may find themselves in front of a grand jury before too much time passes.

“I think a criminal case is going to come out of it,” he concluded. “And I don’t see how the line prosecutors at the Department of Justice can’t take a lot of this evidence and use it, a lot of these people who are involved in this are going to be in front of a grand jury if they’re not already. And Trump is in trouble. Trump is in trouble.”

Former President Reagan was frequently referred to as the “Teflon” president because he came through numerous presidential scandals unharmed. This has led some people to make comparisons between Trump and Reagan and therefore give Trump the same nickname. However this time there’s a very good chance that the scandals of Trump’s making may very well stick.
