POLL: 62% of College Democrats Won’t Share Dorm with a MAGA, Lauren Boebert Goes Crazy!
It really is sad. Though, if we’re all honest, we all likely feel the same way, at least to some degree. A poll shows that 62% of college Democrats say that they couldn’t share a dorm room with a MAGA. It is 100% understandable because this isn’t about politics. We can abhor Liz Cheney’s approach to environmental regulations (as an example) and yet live peacefully beside her, perhaps even more than peaceful, great intellectual debate. But that’s different. That is a political debate within the safety of constitutional democracy. MAGA is a religion that rejects democracy for fanaticism and fascism.
And it is a religion that rejects us as people. In fact, that is its essence. MAGA was born to free those within the movement to hate us and reject us with their entire being. It is a religion in which the core belief is that Donald Trump and his MAGAs have the right to rule, whether in a democracy or in a fascist state. Indeed, there is increasing evidence that even their politicians are increasingly open to just plain old fascism. “Remaking the American government,” is the current phrase that Joe Scarborough hears.
So it’s no surprise at all that we Democrats would reject this religion, the one that comes up with laws like “Don’t say gay.”
I’m a little surprised it’s only 62%. Living with someone is a bit different than tolerating their existence. pic.twitter.com/iEQkG8U1Wn

The very fact that one-third of us are willing to live with a MAGA is indicative of our acceptance of others. Let’s reframe the poll and ask how many MAGAs would accept an AOC Democrat.

Ten percent? Five?
Twitter had some thoughts as well:
As if Klannie Oakley knows a damn thing about college. 😂

Fortunately, not a big problem. Think about it, Trump people in a college dorm room?
What are the odds?

I mean, who would WANT to share a room with a racist, misogynist, sexist, white supremacist… or someone who thinks that these qualities aren't deal-breakers?

Lauren you didn't go to college shut up

"Why won't you tolerate and enable my hate?"

My daughter roomed with a trumper freshman year. She was a slob who used the n word and made homophobic remarks. Tolerance of the intolerant isn’t an option. Luckily she dumped her for the last three years and had a great time with normal respectful roommates who voted for Biden

Most college students don't discuss politics with people they just met. But if they did run into a GOP supporting college student who spouted off racist language and hateful rhetoric, can you blame them for not wanting them as roommates?

“If you don’t want to spend time with people that hate you then YOU’RE the problem!”
— Carmine Covelli (@carminecovelli) August 22, 2022
Well that number should be higher anyway since most trump supporters don’t believe in going to college
