Steve Bannon Says the FBI is the American Gestapo and MAGA Will ‘Destroy the American State’

“And this was just a search warrant.”

We have started stories before with the new internet meme. It is stunning. Jennifer Rubin’s column today in the Washington Post asks, “Is there no crime that Trump can commit and the MAGAs will hold him responsible for?” Writing:

At this point, no straw — no lead pipe, even — could break the camel’s back. Republicans have demonstrated that Donald Trump could commit any transgression or crime, and they would still defend it. Put another way: Trump conducted his Fifth Avenue test, and Republicans have failed.

It was just a search warrant that found exactly what the FBI said would be found in Trump’s residence. The search warrant wasn’t the first tool used. At first, the National Archives “asked” for the documents back. When that didn’t work, they subpoenaed the documents. When they weren’t sure whether Trump was truthful about giving back all the documents, they asked an attorney to sign over that – yes, they had delivered all the documents. And then the FBI had an informant, someone who said he still had critical documents, an informant so close to the situation that a federal magistrate signed what he had to know would be the most scrutinized search warrant in all of history. There must be so damned much evidence in that affidavit…

And then the FBI walked out with exactly what they said would be found in the home. They walked out with NUCLEAR secrets that were classified with the highest classifications in the American government, and there is no acceptable excuse for having those documents, but there are a TON of just god-awful reasons. Selling state secrets quicker than any other reason. Joe Scarborough said, “He’ll steal anything not nailed to the floor!”

So Trump is basically dead to rights guilty because those documents – by law – never leave secure rooms, and yet there they were. And the MAGAs turn the fury on the FBI, the ones that said that America’s most secret nuclear documents are at Trump’s place and found them. Steve Bannon says that the FBI should be disbanded and that MAGA will destroy the American state over a traitor!

During opening remarks on his War Room: Pandemic podcast, Bannon argued that the FBI should be defunded because agents served a search warrant to recover classified documents at former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

“Does anybody ever mention the FBI as being real assistance whatsoever except for marginal cases?” Bannon asked. “No, they’ve turned into the American Gestapo. They have to be defunded. They say, oh, this is dangerous talk. No, it’s not. It’s a political process…

“… Bannon noted that Vox had recently published a column warning that Trump’s Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement is a threat to the “American state.” “They didn’t say the country, they didn’t say America as a nation, they didn’t say the American people,” Bannon argued. “The American state. And they are absolutely correct. You said the quiet part out loud. We are a threat to the American state.”

Correct. Because when they say the “American state,” they mean the American government, one of the people, by the people, for the people, a nation of laws, not men, “a Republic, if you can keep it,” and the American Constitution. Yes, MAGA is a threat to all of it, as they’ve shown time and again. So now Bannon is bragging that yes, they are a threat to all that. They want a fascist state like Russia. IF the FBI had proof that Trump sold the secret documents to Saudi Arabia or Russia, they would defend it as a “set up.” or that Trump had the right to do it and it was a good thing to do… something!

“And this was just a search warrant.”
