Prepare for Trump to EXPLODE: Congress to Get Trump’s Financial Information Immediately

If one has enough money, it is fairly easy to put off actually acting on a judgment for a long time. It has been two months since a DC Appellate Court ruled that Trump had to give his financial records to Congress. Rather than simply accept the decision, Trump’s attorneys asked for time to consider (and probably brief) a motion to have the DC Circuit Court hear the case en banc, which is just a stupid fancy way of saying “every judge in the circuit rule on the case” rather than the three-judge panel.

Such motions nearly always fail but asking for time to brief why the entire court should hear the matter can take another three to four months and, of course, put off the actual result of a court case. The worry, of course, is that Congress won the right to see if Trump had any financial conflicts and his real position, but if the Republicans win in November, the Republicans will ignore the ruling.

But for some reason, Congress and Trump’s lawyers reached an agreement whereby Congress is getting Trump’s financial documents near immediately. From Fox News:

Nearly two months after the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals issued a ruling in a case about a House Oversight Committee subpoena on an accounting firm for former President Trump’s financial records, Trump’s lawyers revealed that all parties involved have reached a settlement agreement.

Attorneys from the law firm Consovoy McCarthy notified the federal appellate court of the latest development in a Wednesday court filing.

“In light of the panel’s opinion, Plaintiffs, Mazars, and the Committee reached a settlement of this case on August 30, 2022,” the filing said, noting that as a result, Trump and his businesses were withdrawing a request to have the matter reheard by the full court in an en banc hearing.

Now Congress needs to find about 15 accountants and 15 tax attorneys to start pouring through the information fast and get a report out.
