Trump Would Time His Air Force One Takeoff to Coincide With the ‘Nessun Dorma’ Crescendo

Pretty much anyone who isn’t dead and who fully understands Donald Trump knows that his over-inflated ego can at times be unintentionally hilarious. British filmmaker Alex Holder certainly understands this quite well after witnessing the former president that was well, weird.

“There’s just one hilarious story where he actually times the takeoff of Air Force One to coincide with the crescendo of ‘Nessum Dorma,’ which is just absolutely outrageous and hilarious,” said Holder, who interviewed Trump for his documentary Unprecedented.

So what makes this so funny? Trump played the aria during 2016 campaign events, which is rather comical. At the time, Holder was on Air Force One for an interview that wound up being canceled, he said on an episode of The Bulwark Podcast on Tuesday, Insider reports.

But another thing that was on display for Holder and his crew was how Trump was able to blend “the machinery and the apparatus of the presidency to engender this image to his fans, which is remarkable,” Holder said. “It’s almost like Kim Jong-un.”

In a video from Trump’s 2016 campaign, we see Trump’s plane flying by with the same aria blasting.

Trump’s use of the beloved aria from Puccini’s opera Turandot during campaign events, offended Nicola Mantovani, the widow of Luciano Pavarotti. Obviously no fan of Trump, she asked him to stop playing it.

“We remind you that the values of brotherhood and solidarity that Luciano Pavarotti upheld throughout his artistic career are incompatible with the world vision of the candidate Donald Trump,” Nicola Mantovani wrote during this time.

Nessun Dorma (“Let No One Sleep”) is included in the final act of Puccini’s Play, and according to Wikipedia, it is one of the best tenor arias known in all opera.

As you can see in the clip below, Nessun Dorma is truly beautiful and Donald Trump should keep his grubby undersized mitts off of it.

Amazing.
