Meghan McCain Condemns the Attack on Paul Pelosi — And It Doesn’t End Well for Her
As you probably know by now, Nancy Pelosi’s husband Paul Pelosi was assaulted during a break-in at the couple’s San Francisco home early on Friday and a suspect has been arrested.
Paul Pelosi was taken to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery, despite being attacked with a HAMMER.
The Democratic speaker, who is second in line for the presidency, was in Washington with her protective detail at the time of the assault, according to the U.S. Capitol Police.
According to CNN, the assailant shouted “Where is Nancy?” before the attack. The Associated Press reported the hammer-wielding assailant specifically targeted the Pelosis’ home.
Most on Twitter are obviously outraged. We don’t know the motive behind the attack yet, but I think most of us can take an educated guess. The “Where’s Nancy” tells us quite a bit, and right-wing violence has been on the uptick for years.

Most tweets were like this:
Doug and I are appalled by the attack on Paul Pelosi, Speaker Pelosi’s husband. The entire Pelosi family is in our hearts and we wish him a speedy recovery.
— Vice President Kamala Harris (@VP) October 28, 2022
The violent, heinous attack on Paul Pelosi, the Speaker's husband, needs to be denounced in the strongest possible terms BY BOTH SIDES.
He was attacked with a hammer, ffs.

A few were more on the snarky side like this:
has the person who attacked Paul Pelosi been invited to speak at CPAC yet
— Jeff Tiedrich (@itsJeffTiedrich) October 28, 2022
I’m not going to jump to any conclusions but if I were a betting man, I would put a lot of money on Paul Pelosi’s assailant owning a MAGA hat.

One person who expressed her anger was Meghan McCain. Did you know her father was John McCain! Yep, she never mentions it. And her husband is the disgusting publisher of the The Federalist. Anyway, McCain tweeted, “I feel absolutely sick, horrified and disgusted about the news of Paul Pelosi. What in God’s name is happening in this country?! Everyone join me and send support, love, prayers, anything you can to Speaker Pelosi, her husband and the entire Pelosi family. This is a broken world.”

This is a broken world

Well, considering who she is and who she supports, Twitter was not kind:
Oh for goodness sake, Meghan! Your own divisive rhetoric plays into this. You spread hate in your own words without thinking someone will hear you & react. I will send my concerns to the Pelosi family, just not along with you. And Meghan, I'm in AZ!
— that's hilarious! (@TAZGal52) October 28, 2022
Spare us.
All of you have had more than enough opportunity to denounce this violence.
You didn't.
Now it just keeps escalating.
This is on you.— Sheena (@queen_she_ra) October 28, 2022
Gaslighting is fun, until someone gets hurt.
Right Meghan??????????

You helped make this happen. You don’t get to play innocent.
— Mark Boyer (@markboyer) October 28, 2022
Coming from you this means nothing. You support the mean side.

I’ve read your tweets…I’m surprised you don’t see a connection. You foment this type of behavior every time you tweet intolerance. I don’t know the particulars but when people with loud magaphones shout-someone is listening and it doesn’t take much more. Civility is dead.

This is what your base festers every day Meghan. And you are right, this is a broken world. Speak to Ben about this.

And your rhetoric is a classic example of the cause. You don’t get to spew hate and then jump on the thoughts and prayers wagon. Your dad would be so ashamed
— Melanie (@melsmalltx1) October 28, 2022
How about a little introspection from you and Ben?! What is your role over the years to stoke the stories, lies and half truths that help people justify these violent actions. Your voices drive consequences even if you do not pull the trigger!
— Jeff Wilkinson (@wilkinsonjg) October 28, 2022
But making fun of a man who has had a stroke is not contributing to the problem, right?
