Naomi Biden and Her Now-Husband Lived in the White House for Months Before Her Wedding Last Weekend

In the months before her marriage, Naomi Biden moved into comfy digs at the White House, giving her a chance to become acquainted with her exclusive wedding venue well before her nuptials, The Hill reports.

Naomi, a 28-year-old lawyer, confirmed in a Vogue digital cover story that she and her now-husband Peter Neal spent several months residing in the White House with grandpa Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden. The young couple moved into the White House when the lease on their Washington apartment ran out.

That led the young couple to ask Naomi’s grandparents if they could move in “for a few months” along with their mini-Australian shepherd Charlie, while they planned the Big Day.

“I try to remind myself that it’s the White House,” she told Vogue, “but it also gets normalized over time.”

The young couple was married on the South Lawn, and they are the 19th couple to be married at the White House. Last week The New York Times first revealed that Naomi, President Biden’s eldest niece, was living at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

And the Bidens aren’t the first couple to allow other family members to move in. Former first lady Melania Trump moved her mom and dad, Viktor and Amalija Knavs lived off and on inside the White House, traveling between Washington and former President Donald Trump’s New York and Florida residences, The Hill reports.

In another memorable instance, Marian Robinson, the mother of former first lady Michelle Obama also moved into the White House alongside her daughter, former President Barack Obama, and their young daughters.

During part of a 2018 interview, Robinson said worries for her family’s safety drove her to make the dramatic move. But the move was definitely a “huge adjustment” for her.

“As a matter of fact, I talked the White House staff into letting me do my own laundry,” she said.

Of course, Trump’s eldest daughter Ivanka, and her husband Jared Kushner moved to D.C. to be closer to dear old dad, but that turned into a grifty sh*tshow, moving into a $5 million dollar mansion. Especially as Kushner benefited from the largesse of the Saudis.

So this wedding was a lovely antidote to the previous dog and pony show that occupied the White House.
