GOP Hypocrisy

Newsmax Host Totally Agrees With Trump, Time to Get Rid of the Constitution

Newsmax host Greg Kelly has pulled some bizarre and disgusting stunts, which include things like suggesting in a tweet that he later deleted that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi staged the brutal attack on her husband, Paul Pelosi. He’s also called Dallas Police to “report” a drag show” and in August claimed that one Capitol police officer who was beaten unconscious by Proud Boys during the January 6 Capitol riot had “fallen and bumped her head,” Joe.My.God. reports.

And now that Donald Trump has called for the Constitution to be eliminated, Kelly is all for it, according to Media Matters For America.

“I will not condemn what President Trump said. In fact — well, look, let me point out what’s happening here.”

“Donald Trump believes that he won the 2020 election. (Even though it’s been proven beyond all doubt that he didn’t). I happen to agree with him in large part. I think there were huge problems with that election.”

“What we’re learning right now — if you’re Donald Trump, you can absolutely understand the way he feels. And it only happened to him. He’s the victim, here, actually — yes, the millions of people who voted for him. But him especially.”

Boy, Trump ought to eat that one up. He loves to play the victim. It’s one of his hobbies. But Kelly’s not even done.

“So, there’s actually no provision in the Constituion if you find out there was massive fraud, and perhaps the perosn in the White House doesn’t belong there.”

“How do you fix that?” Kelly wondered. “Do you set up a new system? Do you set up a new election? Do you wait two and a half, three years until the next election?”

I don’t know, but maybe you start by not watching news channels that promote conspiracy theories, pseudoscience, propaganda, fake news, and failed fact checks, per Media Bias/Fact Check.

But the Constitution does have something to say about fraud. This link helps shed a little light on the subject.

I don’t know if people like Kelly will ever get it through their heads that President Joe Biden won fairly and squarely.

Logic, however, doesn’t seem to be Kelly’s strong suit, however.

“You know, we do do things external to the Constitution all the time,” he said. “Like for two years, we were all told we had to stay home and we had no choice.”

But the Constitution really doesn’t say much about pandemics and some feel that needs to change. And at this point, Kelly begins to fling the stupid.

“Remember when they closed down businesses? Remember when they arrested a man for opening his business? Was that in the Constitution? How about this woman who was arrested for going to Arby’s and she would not wear her mask?”

Heaven forbid someone should do anything decent to prevent Covid’s spread, I guess.

Then he was off on another one of his favorite subjects: Those evil drag queens trying to read to kids. As in “How about drag queens reading to children in schools? I think that’s a violation of my constitutional rights, even if it’s not my kid. So, there are a lot of things that happened outside the Constitution.”

Despite whatever Kelly thinks about the Constitution, abolishing it is absolutely the wrong idea. The chaos that would create is nearly unimaginable. And the thing is, the Constitution has been amended time and again. I’m sure that can continue without eliminating this document. What we need is reasoned arguments regarding this, not the opinions of some television host from a fly-by-night news channel that makes Fox News look respectable by comparison.
