GOP Hypocrisy

Trump Flies into a Rage at Jewish Leaders for ‘Forgetting’ That He Was ‘The Best President for Israel’

So here we have former President Donald Trump having another pity party and not caring who else he hurts while doing so. Trump has been playing the victim since long before he lost the election and now he’s hitting out. Again.

This time, in a post on Truth Social, he’s blaming “Jewish leaders” for their “lack of loyalty” to him, according to a report from The Independent.  He added, “they should be ashamed of themselves.” And Trump was really in whine mode, sharing a story from the right-wing rag The Gateway Pundit by Wayne Allen Root.

And when I call the Gateway Pundit a rag it’s because it is one. Media Bias/Fact Check notes it has failed dozens of fact checks. But it’s regularly cited by Sean Hannity and others on Fox News but this isn’t something that Trump would be concerned with, since he has a history of telling fanciful tales.

As you might expect, Root defended Trump for having dinner with anti-Semitic rapper Kanye West and white nationalist Nick Fuentes and the ex-president was more than happy to share this.

“Thank you Wayne — You are great but how quickly Jewish Leaders forgot that I was the best, by far, President for Israel,” he wrote. “They should be ashamed of themselves. This lack of loyalty to their greatest friends and allies is why large numbers in Congress, and so many others, have stopped giving support to Israel.”

Trump is apparently oblivious to the fact that folks in the Jewish community might be offended at him for having dinner with an anti-Semitic rapper and a white nationalist. (Trump claims he didn’t know Fuentes was a white nationalist but Kanye West has caught a ton of heat for his recent stupidity.)

Root also singled out former President Barack Obama for special attention while lauding Trump at the same time.

“While president, Trump did more for the state of Israel and the Jewish people than anyone in history,” Root wrote. “He risked his career and political standing to always support Israel, through thick and thin. In Israel, Trump is beloved. Israelis have named streets, train stations and soccer teams after Trump.”

Of course, Root offers no evidence regarding what Trump has “done” for evidence and he certainly hasn’t done more than “anyone in history.” He then blamed the “liberal media” for its “love” of Obama and animosity for Trump for the outrage over his dinner with West and Fuentes. Root describes these two as a “celebrity acquaintance” and “a stranger.”

“The media, Democrats and the RINO establishment GOP are tring to destroy Trump over a brief dinner. With a stranger,” he wrote, claiming “mentally disturbed” West set Trump up to gin up his own political ambitions and then insisted the story is “gaslighting.”

Unless you just woke up from a coma you already know that West has effectively destroyed his career with his anti-Semitic nonsense and his commercials sponsors have abandoned him like rats fleeing a sinking ship. And Fuentes is notorious for his live streams which allow him to rant about Jewish control of the global system and for collaborating with obnoxiously right-wing MAGA GOPers like Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Georgia) and Paul Gosar (Ariz.).

Here’s some fun information about Fuentes via the Southern Poverty Law Center:

“Nick Fuentes is a white nationalist livestreamer who advocates pulling the Republican Party further to extreme far-right end of the political spectrum. An outspoken admirer of fascists such as Mussolini, Fuentes emerged as an influential figure on the national stage during the now-infamous ‘Stop the Steal’ movement, which relied on misinformation to false claim that Donald Trump had won the 2020 election and sought to overturn the results of it. Some Republican lawmakers have collaborated with his America First Foundation, which hosts an annual America First Political Action Conference (AFPAC) alongside the more mainstream Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), which it seeks to supplant.”

If Trump didn’t know Fuentes, as he angrily claimed on Truth Social, he’s either more naive than I thought or he’s not a very good liar. Of course, many of us already know that the last suggestion is likely. Do I really need to say more? He hangs out with other noted racists like Steve Bannon and Roger Stone and hired Stephen Miller who promoted white nationalist articles while he served as a senior advisor to the then-president.

Trump has already announced he will run for president in 2024 and it’s already not looking like he’s likely to win. Let’s hope that continues to be the case.
