Election 2020

Turns Out Melania Was Just as Nasty as Her Husband and REFUSED to Invite Jill Biden to Tea After Election

It’s sad to think Melania Trump did something like this, but according to Stephanie Grisham, former White House press secretary and aide to the first lady, she stubbornly refused to invite incoming first lady Jill Biden to tea, The Independent reports.

That’s apparently what Grisham told the House Select Committee investigating the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol, according to transcripts the committee recently released.

Grisham said this was out of character for Melania Trump who tended to act independently regardless of West Wing policy.

At one point the committee asked Grisham about a chain of text messages between herself and the former first lady, in which she told Melania she should consider inviting Jill Biden to the traditional tea and tour of the White House, something that outgoing first ladies usually do. Despite her husband’s constant complaints about the election results.

“I was trying to gently say to her — because, again, so often she did things no matter — independent of her husband, and she did what she felt was right,” Grisham told the committee. “So I was trying to gently say, maybe we reach out and do this anyway.”

But Melania wasn’t on board with this, and she responded “We need to be on the same page with the West Wing,” Grisham said.

Michelle Obama invited Melania Trump to the White House as is customary during the presidential transfer of power. And this shocked her.

“In my entire career in that White House, she never, ever, ever said that. It was always kind of an ‘F the West Wing’ attitude,” the former aide said.

Referencing the text messages, Grisham said “And so that’s — you see I’m like, ‘I see. Okay,’ because I was flabbergasted. We had never gone along with the West Wing on anything.”

But that’s not all Grisham had to say.

“When I very first started my job with her, she said — I mean, she all but told me ‘relinquish your ties with the West Wing,’ because of course I started out there. ‘We’re going to do our own thing. We aren’t going to worry about them. We are going to do what I want, what I feel is right and what they say doesn’t matter.'”

It soon became a different story in the two to three weeks leading up to January 6, however.

“She started to say, like, something’s not right here and let’s listen to the West Wing,” Grisham told the committee. “And she had started to, in my opinion, drink somebody’s Kool-Aid that perhaps this election was stolen.”

Then she recounted the goings-on in the midst of the Capitol riot on January 6, noting that Melania was having the White House carpets photographed. She told the committee she had asked the first lady if she wanted to send a tweet that called for a peaceful protest without violence and received a simple “no” as a response.

“She was up there with the carpet and I was watching violence take place at our Capitol, and she just literally said no to me with no explanation,” Grisham said. “I just — I mean I kind of was like just f*** you.”

“I was so, so disappointed in her. I was more disappointed in her than I had ever, ever been, because she had a chance to take a real leadership role,” Grisham said. “And I know for a fact she was amazing at influencing her husband sometimes with the kinds of things, you know.”

But she also couldn’t believe that Melania didn’t immediately tell her husband over the phone to make the video that he eventually wound up doing in order to encourage the mob to go home.

It’s nice to know that the former first lady doesn’t hang on her husband’s every word but it’s truly sad that she didn’t have enough grace to invite Jill Biden, who seems every bit the gracious person that she is, to sit down for a cup of tea. Jill Biden, who puts red Valentine’s Day hearts on the White House lawn, reminds us in many ways, that she is a class act.
