Trump Brags and Takes Credit for McCarthy Being the New Speaker, ‘I Did The Country a Big Favor!’

Ugh, this man, I swear. Donald Trump would find a way to take credit for the sun rising every morning if he could.

After originally seeming to back away from Kevin McCarthy’s bid to become speaker of the House, Trump was taking credit Saturday for McCarthy’s long and hard-fought victory.

Trump, who recently said, “let’s see what happens” as McCarthy lost vote after humiliating vote, took credit for “greatly helping McCarthy attain the position of Speaker of the House.” Trump bragged on Truth Social: “Thank you, I did the Country a big favor!” LOL, such a humble one, that Trump.

The one-term, twice-impeached loser wrote, “The Fake News Media was, believe it or not, very gracious in their reporting that I greatly helped Kevin McCarthy attain the position of Speaker of the House. Thank you, I did our Country a big favor!”

Following a statement from McCarthy to “especially thank President Trump,” he posted a video of it and responded: “Thank you Kevin. It was my great honor!”

As recently as Tuesday, Trump appeared to let McCarthy suffer humiliating loss after humiliating loss after the lawmaker had lost three votes in the House to become speaker. Asked on NBC News if he would continue to support the Republican lawmaker, Trump vaguely responded: “Let’s see what happens.”

Trump added: “I got everybody calling me wanting my support. But let’s see what happens, and we’ll go — I got everybody calling, wanting my support. That’s all I can say. But we’ll see what happens. We’ll see how it all works out.”

Well, now Trump is posting basically every article he can find that reports he had a part in McCarthy’s win.

Trump then shared five more articles with similar titles, doing everything he could to take credit for McCarthy’s win.
