Trump’s Feelings are Very Hurt Because Christian Evangelical Leaders Won’t Kiss His Ass Anymore
A chasm has opened between former president Donald Trump and evangelical Christian leaders who previously supported him, it seems. And Trump isn’t happy, no sirree. He’s venting his ire at those who have not yet backed his 2024 presidential run, Raw Story reports.
During an interview with Real America’s Voice reporter David Brody, Trump lambasted evangelicals such as Robert Jeffress who haven’t jumped on the bandwagon just yet, even though the former president made it possible for one of their most ardent wishes to come true: the overruling of Roe v. Wade, which happened after Trump appointed three right-wing justices to the Supreme Court.
And yes, Trump feels betrayed.
“That’s a sign of disloyalty,” Trump told Brody. “There’s great disloyalty in the world of politics and that’s a sign of disloyalty because nobody, as you know… has ever done more for right to life than Donald Trump. Three Supreme Court justices and they all voted [to overturn Roe v. Wade]… they won, they finally won!”

Trump also criticized evangelicals who were no-shows and didn’t vote during the 2022 midterm elections and acknowledged that overturning Roe turned into a boost for Democrats.
He’s also been recently upbraiding hardline evangelicals for aggressively pushing the abortion issue by not allowing exceptions for cases of rape or incest, something that he says should be included in all anti-abortion legislation.
Some evangelicals are also looking elsewhere, NBC News reports. Some are looking to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, while others are looking to former president Mike Pence, who is, conveniently on a “megachurch tour” as one adviser put it. Pence is using this opportunity to tout his memoir “So Help Me God.” He even appeared at Jeffress’s First Baptist megachurch in Dallas.
And Pence’s ties within the evangelical community are deep and well-established and have been since he was elected to Congress more than two decades ago.
So, as Trump continues to gear up for 2024, perhaps he’d best look in the rear-view mirror. Obviously, some things may be closer than he realizes. He ruined the lives of millions of women by helping to ensure Roe v. Wade was overturned and pandered to evangelicals, so he gets what he gets.
