Trump’s Reaction to the Paul Pelosi Attack Video is as Disgusting and Shameful as You’d Expect

Look, Donald Trump doesn’t have to respond to everything that happens in the news. In fact, it’s best he doesn’t since he rarely knows what he’s talking about. But Trump just had to comment on the video of Paul Pelosi being attacked, and he commented something that his followers will absolutely love, because it keeps the conspiracies alive.

As you well remember, Paul Pelosi, the 82-year-old husband of Nancy Pelosi, was attacked in the couple’s San Francisco home on October 22, 2022 by suspect David DePape. Armed with a hammer, LePape severely injured Pelosi after hitting him in the head, which caused Pelosi to need surgery for a fractured skull. DePape’s comments indicated at the time that he had been targeting Nancy Pelosi, and planned to wait for her to return so he could tie her up and force her to admit her “crimes”, even though she was in Washington, D.C., at the time.

Following the attack, the reaction from the right was disgusting, with many prominent politicians and pundits mocking the Pelosi family over the incident. Others, including the CEO of Twitter Elon Musk, spread unfounded conspiracy theories that Pelosi was gay and the incident was a part of a lovers-tryst gone wrong. Musk eventually deleted the tweet, but the damage had been done.

Of course all those ridiculous theories fell apart on Friday when the San Francisco Police Department released body camera footage captured by officers who responded to the scene. In the footage, DePape can be seen wielding a hammer in one hand and holding Pelosi’s arm with the other. As the situation unfolds, DePape begins to swing the hammer at Pelosi, knocking him to the ground as police rush in. The video is rather shocking, so I’m not posting it. If you haven’t seen it and want to, it is HERE. And you’ll note that video was posted by Glenn Beck, who admitted that the attack on Pelosi was just that, an awful attack, nothing more.

The 911 call was also released and it’s eerie, as you can tell Pelosi is talking in code, and at one point the 911 operator almost hangs up on him, but eventually she caught on, thank goodness.

Trump’s reaction was to call the video “nasty” and “weird” and “not good”.

Of course his post can be construed many different ways. Obviously the video is not good, an 82-year-old man is attacked violently with a hammer. But Trump’s followers will read it differently. They will see the word “weird” and read CONSPIRACY. They will see the word “nasty” and think something nefarious was going on. Remember, Trump’s worst supporters aren’t critical thinkers. They want this to be a scandal and will do whatever it takes to make it so.

You can see how his supporters on Truth Social are already finding ways to make the incident into something it wasn’t.

Just take a look at some of the responses to Trump’s post:

Trump could have just posted a simple message saying, “Well, this video should put all the conspiracies to rest. Let’s pray for the Pelosis as they continue to heal, both physically and emotionally, from this brutal attack.”

But no. Trump has to be cryptic to keep the sheep bleating. God forbid he’s decent…for once.
