Church Crowd Laughs and Applauds as Lauren Boebert Tells Then to Pray for Biden’s Death

The congregation happily cheered as Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.)told the audience to pray that President Joe Biden’s days on Earth be numbered.

“We pray for our president. Let his days be few and another take his office,” she said. “That’s why I filed the articles of impeachment for Joe Biden. Unfortunately, he does have a really good insurance policy named Kamala Harris.”

According to PoliticusUSA, this is the psalm Boebert was referring to:

The Establishment Clause in the Bill of Rights makes very plain the separation of church and state, meaning, of course, that churches are tax-exempt. But this has helped many churches become centers of political right-wingnuttery, legal and otherwise. And Boebert exhorting members of a congregation to pray for the death of President Biden is pure-grade AAA wingnuttery. Of a dangerous sort.

So maybe it’s time to strip churches of their tax-exempt status if they are going to take part in this sort of partisan ridiculousness. But the situation isn’t encouraging considering that the previous occupant of the White House successfully installed three conservative Supreme Court Justices, meaning there’s a good chance churches will be given even more leeway to become overtly partisan.

Boebert’s behavior is inexcusable and shouldn’t be tolerated. The same goes for right-wing evangelicals and others who behave like this. I didn’t think the Republican Party could sink any lower when it nominated Donald Trump as its presidential candidate in 2016, and once again, time has proven me wrong. We all know the right-wing evangelicals who support this venal man are doing nothing more than chasing the almighty dollar. We know they are frauds. We know their pretend faith in Trump is a fraud. They are stealing the hides off of U.S. taxpayers by hiding behind a wall of religious exemption, well then, maybe it’s time to tear down that wall.
