Sarah Huckabee Sanders Humiliates Herself and Proves Why Arkansas is Ranked So Poorly in Education

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders may want to make sure computers in her office have spellcheckers. Because someone in her office made an especially embarrassing goof and social media users are having a field day over it.

A caption below a portrait of the smiling Huckabee Sanders reads “ARKANSAS GOVENOR” and the rest is Twitter history. Appearing on Sunday evening, the embarrassing tweet was then retweeted Monday morning by USA Today columnist Michael Stern, who has at least 27,000 followers on the platform.

“Sarah Huckabee Sanders, educating Arkansas,” Stern posted. “And we wonder why the GOP are destroying the minds of our children.”

Here is the full, humiliating photo in all it’s glory:

And Twitter users ate it up.

“This is the perfect way to end my night,” one person wrote above the photo.

Twitter user James Rubec noted, “I mean, they had one job.”

The Independent reports that it isn’t clear who produced the portrait or where the photo was taken.

Huckabee Sanders is serving her first term as governor, having won the election in a landslide last November. The former Trump administration White House press secretary found herself in the spotlight after she was chosen to give the Republican response to President Joe Biden’s State of The Union address earlier this month.

In that speech, Huckabee Sanders touched on legislation she intends to push in the Arkansas state legislature that will overhaul the state’s education system. These plans include giving students vouchers they can use to attend private school or to be homeschooled and increasing teachers’ starting salaries by $14,000.

The measure, called the LEARNS Act, has one big caveat: It would make it easier for teachers to be fired because it repeals the state’s Fair Teacher Dismissal Act. Democrats are doing their part by filing amendments to the bill that preserve some job protection for teachers, but unfortunately, the bill is expected to pass the state’s Republican-dominated legislature.

And the truly sad fact is that Arkansas is one of the least-educated states in the U.S. and teacher salaries in the state are not good.

But this measure may be a defining moment for Huckabee Sanders as she follows in her father Mike Huckabee’s footsteps.

Of course, when she worked as Trump’s press secretary, she became infamous for a spate of lies, notes Vanity Fair’s Bess Levin.

According to Levin, some of the untruths on this list include:

  • Insisting, with a straight face, that her boss had never “promoted or encouraged violence,” seemingly forgetting the time Trump told supporters at a rally, of a protester who’d been ejected, “I’d like to punch him in the face:” or the time he told a crowd in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, “If you see somebody getting ready to throw a tomato, knock the crap out of them, would you? Seriously, okay. Just knock the hell — I promise you I will pay for the legal fees, I promise;” or the time he openly fantasized about “Second Amendment people” preventing the appointment of liberal judges; or the time he instructed police officers to knock suspects’ heads against the side of their squad cars.
  • Denying knowledge of Trump’s in-office hush-money payoffs, despite the fact that Trump himself admitted to them.
  • And, of course who could forget the time she created an elaborate yarn about how she’d heard from “countless…individuals who work at the FBI who said they were very happy” with Trump’s decision to fire James Comey, in an attempt to make the story that the firing was all about agency morale stick, and had nothing whatsoever to do with the Russia investigation. Which, of course, she admitted was a total lie during her interview with Special Counsel Robert Mueller. She subsequently doubled down, telling George Stephanopoulos that she only admitted to lying about hearing from “countless” people, before shifting the focus to Comey, who she described as a “disgraced leaker” and a “dirty cop.”

So this makes me wonder: Will she continue her tradition of lying to people during her time as Arkansas Governor? People don’t tend to change their stripes. This is easily demonstrated by Trump, her former boss, who continues to spread misinformation and never-ending rants about those he believes have wronged him.

He never changes and I doubt Huckabee Sanders will either.
