2024 Election
What Trump Just Posted About Nikki Haley on Truth Social Shows He’s Nervous About Her Running for President
Former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley is widely expected to announce her own White House bid and as you might expect, Donald Trump is not happy about this. So he decided to share an old video of the former Republican South Carolina governor saying she would never run against him, Insider reports.
If Haley does run, she’ll be the first Republican to declare a challenge to the former president. She’s said she considers herself to be part of “a new generation” of Republican leaders.
Trump of course launched his bid in November but has been hampered by the fact that the candidates he endorsed in the 2022 midterms performed disastrously, and that, coupled with all the scandals he’s facing has made him politically vulnerable.
There’s also a good chance some of his former allies — Mike Pence and Mike Pompeo are also eyeing their own chances, especially as Trump’s problems continue to escalate. And of course, most political analysts believe Florida Governor Ron DeSantis would be Trump’s most powerful Republican opponent if he decides to run. He is, after all, considered a rising star within the party, Insider notes.

Haley has walked a careful line between criticizing and praising the former president since he left office in 2021. She has said she believes he’s been judged “harshly” over his actions during the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack, but said later that year that she wouldn’t challenge him for the presidency since at that time his popularity among the GOP was pretty firm.
So of course Trump hits Truth Social and gets a little passive-aggressive.

Saturday, Trump told reporters Haley had called him to say she was thinking of running.
” I said look, you know, go by your heart if you want to run,” he said.
So while Trump’s legal and financial problems continue to mount, his Republican base is also slipping away. That’s certainly not a bad thing.
