Experts Claim Ivanka Trump May Have Distanced Herself From the Family Too ‘Late’ to Make This Anticipated Move

Ivanka Trump may have waited too long to distance herself from her family’s legal problems, despite her recent efforts to do so and to “rebrand” herself, a noted legal analyst said Saturday.

Donald Trump’s eldest daughter has been persistent in making efforts to distance herself from her father’s political career since the end of his time in office and has been focusing on her business career. Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner have both given testimony to the House select committee investigating the January 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol. Most noticeably, Ivanka was also a no-show during her father’s announcement of his 2024 reelection bid late last year, Newsweek reports.

Ivanka is also trying to distance herself from the mountain of legal woes her family faces. She’s named as a defendant in New York Attorney General Letitia James’s $250 million fraud case against the Trump Organization along with her brothers Eric and Donald Trump Jr. and other company executives. In the complaint, James alleges that the Trump Organization misrepresented the values of some properties on official documents to benefit financially.

And Ivanka has also recently dismissed the services of lawyers representing her brothers, bringing in her own legal team. Her new attorneys, on March 6, wrote to the judge presiding over the case and asked to delay the trial. They also argued that their client wasn’t directly involved in the wrongdoing alleged by James.

“The complaint does not contain a single allegation that Ms. Trump directly or indirectly created, prepared, reviewed or certified any of her father’s financial statements,” their letter reads. “The complaint affirmatively alleges that other individuals were responsible for those tasks.”

But despite all the space she’s trying to put between herself and her family, it may be a case of “too little too late” for her.

In an interview with Insider for a story published Saturday, legal analyst and attorney Andrew Lieb said that Ivanka Trump’s efforts to move away from her family are sensible, but may well be too late. He also added there may be infighting among Trump family members.

“It’s a little late in the game for her to be rebranding, although it makes a lot of sense from a legal perspective,” Lieb said. “Having all of these people—when it comes to Trump, Donald Jr., Eric, and Ivanka—with the same lawyer, there ould end up being conflict of interest issues. I think there’s probably something going on here where there’s infighting because I find that families all love each other until they’re all liable for $250 million.”

Lieb also said on Saturday that these moves being made by Donald Trump’s eldest daughter may likely be motivated by the impact her father’s political career has had on Ivanka’s own business dealings as well as her personal life.

Ivanka is no longer Daddy’s little girl. She’s had to rely on her survival instincts here and I really don’t know what this portends for her. That said, she had to have known what kind of person her father is. And he led Ivanka and her two brothers into shady business dealings that could lead all of them to a bad end.

It really couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of people.

And I found this GIF and it just…works:
