Newly Leaked Info About Dianne Feinstein’s Health Has People Urging Her to Resign ASAP
It has been very tempting to say that Sen. Diane Feinstein has been extremely selfish in refusing to resign in the face of health problems that have prohibited her from casting a vote in Congress for three months and, unlike Senator John Fetterman, there is no indication that Senator Feinstein’s health will improve. She is 89 years old.
However, perhaps she isn’t to blame.
There is no mechanism to remove a senator for health reasons (only misconduct) and Senator Feinstein might not be aware of how bad her problems are. She has a much more serious cognitive decline than has been reported. From The Insider:
Dianne Feinstein’s office makes sure a staff member constantly follows the senator around the Capitol out of concern for what she might say to reporters amid her declining health and old age, multiple sources told Rolling Stone.
Feinstein returned to the Senate on Wednesday after spending nearly three months away from Washington due to a shingles infection. But her mental acuity has also faced scrutiny in recent years with reports revealing how the 89-year-old senator would at times forget conversations and struggle with her short-term memory.

“They will not let her leave by herself, but she doesn’t even know it,” Purley said.
Feinstein is rightly proud of all that she has accomplished and would otherwise have the right to finish her amazing career on her own terms (the first woman to represent California in the Senate and a Democratic trailblazer first elected to the Senate in 1992 when women were few and far between in the Senate).
But she may not be aware of just how much she’s declined. If she were, she might step down and allow Governor Newsom to appoint another Democrat… like Katie Porter or Adam Schiff, two declared candidates for the seat, to step in and start blazing.
It is a critical issue. Feinstein’s absence – and possible future absences – have held up important votes to confirm much-needed judges.
Based on the response on Twitter, people want her to resign, for the good of the country, and her own legacy:
If not for her party, the people around Feinstein should urge her to resign to protect her reputation. This is a terrible final chapter to her career. https://t.co/GGxTRq27dh

This frankly looks like elder abuse. Feinstein looks terrible. She looks unwell, gaunt and disoriented. She has served the Senate well for decades. Time for her to go home and rest. Whoever is forcing her to do this should be given a talking to by an advocate for Feinstein. https://t.co/7xdkOpX9fP

It's time for Senator Feinstein to step down, for the good of the country. I say this as someone who has voted for her in every statewide election she's ever been in. She is hurting all of us and her own legacy. https://t.co/9pWaWtew0h

The crown jewel of Senator Feinstein’s civic life, was authoring the Assault Weapons Ban in 1994, which was signed into law & later expired 2004. Her illustrious political career is undeniable. At 89 & clearly frail, I wish she would retire, pass the torch & preserve her legacy. pic.twitter.com/CSpqKbwIsn

it's funny that people are going "the jr staffers in diane feinstein's office aren't forcing her to keep working!" when like… yeah we know. the issue is that at some point they clearly realized their boss was senile and they were like "that's fine as long as it helps my career"

Any liberal cheering for Dianne Feinstein's return probably never cared for an elderly person before. If they had, they'd know she's being exploited. Regardless of politics, no one deserves to be paraded around for the political machine. My heart's broken for her. pic.twitter.com/QJ8rwC2UEV

Does anyone else find it painful & concerning to see the images of Dianne Feinstein returning to the Senate today? She’s led an incredible career & paved the path for so many women, but she really doesn’t have to keep going. This isn’t about age. It’s about capacity to serve.
