Meghan McCain Brags That Her Kids Won’t Be Allowed to Think for Themselves, and Will Attend a ‘Woke’ College ‘Over Her Dead Body’

When Meghan McCain gets a wrong idea she really runs with it. This time she ran with it in her Wednesday column for The Daily Mail. She wants everyone to know her toddler children will only attend “woke college” over her “dead body.”

She complained that college degrees are often insufficient for guaranteeing “bright futures” for young people and criticized their emphasis on social justice, Jezebel reports. “Who in their right mind would willingly subject themselves or their loved ones to hateful, irrational, woke indoctrination?” she wrote. “Free Market Capitalism 101!”

“The way things are going in academia today—college is the last place I would pay for my kids to attend,” McCain wrote, targeting “the vile, unhinged commencement address at The City University of New York’s law school” during the earlier part of this month. The person who offered the keynote speech criticized white supremacy in the legal system and Israel’s violence and colonization of Palestine.

McCain dedicated most of her column to ranting about Fatima Mousa Mohammed, the speaker at CUNY. Apparently, she’s the main reason McCain is questioning whether her kids should go to college. We wouldn’t want her daughters to be “woke” now would we? And colleges are nothing if not “woke.”

Jezebel notes:

“Even the Falwells’ Liberty University offers a criminal justicce studies major as well as a major in guitar performance, for all the conservative b*tching about how any non-STEM university courses are a waste of time. And even Brigham Young University, which prohibits pre-marital sex and same-sex intimate relationships, offers majors in Latin American studies and Arabic language and literature.”

And when you consider that conservatives spent most of this week creating a ruckus over Chick-fil-A’s internal diversity and inclusion (DEI) committee, this definitely seems quite “woke.”

McCain spent the remainder of her column complaining about other purported acts of woke extremism, including the University of Colorado Boulder characterizing the misgendering of students as violent (well it is pretty damned rude, at least) and unverified rumors that the college will “soon require students to pass an ‘Anti-Black Racism’ course in order to graduate.

“Professors and administrators no longer strive to teach students how to think, but what to think,” McCain complained, failing to name any “young Americans” she’s ever spoken to. Then she claims this demographic “[wants] to be taught a trade or a skill” and that “their parents want to know that their hard-earned dollars are going toward enriching their children’s lives, not filling their heads with useless ideologies.”

I get the idea that McCain knows next to nothing about “ideologies” because really, what she’s doing here is accusing universities of doing things that Republicans are ACTUALLY doing. The GOP is, after all, nearsightedly heading along an anti-LGBTQ path and trying to whitewash Black history in the U.S. as much as possible. Universities are all about teaching critical thinking skills.

Skills that McCain appears to lack.

We could make fun of McCain’s tedious, anti-intellectual arguments but the tragic fact is, she’s raising two young daughters who, if their mother has her way, will be completely incapable of doing any critical thinking in a complicated world that surely demands this. She’s doing her best to raise young Republicans.

And never forget who Meg is married to…Ben Domenech, the co-founder and publisher of The Federalist blog. Need I say more?
