Florida governor and 2024 Republican presidential hopeful Ron DeSantis was in a grouchy mood during a campaign event in New Hampshire on Thursday, snapping at a reporter who asked a question that apparently rubbed him the wrong way.

“Governor, how come you’re not taking questions from voters?” asked Associated Press reporter Steve Peoples, The Hill reports.

I just asked DeSantis why he hasn't taken any questions from voters so far:

“People are coming up to me, talking to me. What are you talking about? Are you blind? Are you blind? People are coming up to me, talking to me whatever they want to talk to me about.”

NBC’s Jonathan Allen tweeted about Desantis’s refusal to take questions at the first event he’s held in New Hampshire after announcing his presidential intentions last week.

DeSantis’s response was definitely snippy.

“People are coming up to me, talking to me. What are you talking about?” DeSantis snapped. “Are you blind? Are you blind?” To which Peoples responded, “No.”

“Okay, so people are coming up to me, talking to me whatever they want to talk to me about.”

After declining to take audience questions after his first New Hampshire campaign event today, Ron DeSantis lashed out at a reporter for asking him about it while he was chatting with members of the crowd individually.

And that led the Never Back Down PAC, formed to support DeSantis’s White House run, to tweet a clip of the interaction, claiming he “SHUTS DOWN fake news reporter.”

Bryan Griffin, DeSantis’s press secretary also had to get his two cents in, tweeting that the reporter asked the Florida Gov. the question while he was “surrounded” by New Hampshire voters who were asking him questions and taking photos with him.

“Perfectly illustrative of the modern media shutting their eyes and ears to truth to push their narrative,” he said.

Funny, I thought that was Republicans who were doing that. They’re all still quite excited about Hunter Biden’s laptop while ignoring the fact that their former idol, Donald Trump, was caught on audio saying he knew he wasn’t supposed to bring those classified documents to Mar-a-Lago. Strange how the GOP doesn’t seem to notice things like this.

If anyone thinks the “fake news” ridiculousness would end when Trump left office, well that doesn’t look to be the case. And DeSantis is like Trump on steroids. He’s decidedly more quick-witted than Trump and that doesn’t bode well for those of us concerned with helping oppressed people to keep their rights. DeSantis is verifiably homophobic and transphobic. He wants to control what our children read in school.

He’s everything that’s wrong with the U.S.
