We Now Know the Identity of the Fox Newser Who Called Biden a ‘Wannabe Dictator’ and You Won’t Be Surprised

I know this is a cliche now, but a Fox News producer for the recently fired Tucker Carlson effed around Tuesday and found out. The producer was fired after he was deemed responsible for an on-air headline that described President Joe Biden as a “wannabe dictator” because of the recent indictment of former President Donald Trump.

Alex McCaskill, the aforementioned producer confirmed his exit in an Instagram post. The Independent reports Fox News did not comment Friday. McCaskill had stayed with Fox after Carlson’s firing on April 24. Carlson was the network’s most popular personality. He was fired less than a week after Fox agreed to pay Dominion Voting Systems $787 million to settle a defamation case, but the reason for his firing has never been explained.

McCaskill got himself in trouble during the last minutes of Carlson’s former time slot Tuesday after the message appeared under separate onscreen boxes that showed Biden and Trump talking. The headline read: “Wannabe dictator speaks at the White House after having his political rival arrested.”

Carlson responded in a Twitter monologue Thursday, saying “the women who run the network panicked” about the post and chided the person responsible for the headline. Carlson didn’t name the producer, but said he was “considered one of the most capable persons in the building.”

Frankly, with a headline like that, McCaskill sounds like he’d be well-suited to write for The Weekly World News. That’s how “capable” this guy sounds.

McCaskill offered to resign with two weeks’ notice, but he was told to clean out his desk and leave immediately, he said.

Fox issued a statement Wednesday, saying that the chyron had been taken down, simply saying the issue had been “addressed” without further elaboration.

The Daily Beast’s Justin Baragona posted a message to Instagram showing McCaskill pictured outside of Fox’s Manhattan office, box in hand.

“Today was my last day at Fox,” read the message under McCaskill’s post. “It’s been a wild 10 years and it was the best place I’ve ever worked because of the great people I met. But the time has come. I asked them to let me go, and they finally did. To all my friends there: I will miss you forever.”

Baragona also posted this on Twitter:

Of course, many of Biden’s critics have claimed Trump’s indictment by special prosecutor Jack Smith was politically motivated. Biden has not commented on the case.

This spring, McCaskill was named in a lawsuit filed by Abby Grossberg, also a former Fox producer who was also part of Carlson’s staff. Her lawsuit claimed McCaskill “habitually belittled female employees” at Fox. McCaskill said that a room set aside at Fox for employees to pump breast milk was a “waste of space” and claimed the room should be replaced with a room for men to tan their testicles, the lawsuit reports.

Yes, that’s stupid, but it would be perfect for The Weekly World News.

Fox is denying allegations in Grossberg’s lawsuit. Even though the cable news network has long been a toxic environment for women. As the movie Bombshell effectively pointed out in 2019.
