The gulf between Ivanka Trump and her father Donald Trump continues to widen. Enough so, that it looks as though this has definitely turned into a separation, notes The New York Times Maggie Haberman.

She notes that Ivanka’s husband Jared Kushner spoke to federal prosecutors who are probing Donald Trump’s role in the January 6 insurrection. Sources told Haberman and her Times colleague, Michael Schmidt that Kushner said that he believes his father-in-law really did believe the 2020 election was stolen.

And Ivanka, Trump’s eldest daughter has also been subpoenaed by the special counsel’s office. Last year she testified in front of the January 6 House committee, Queerty reports. Her testimony lasted eight hours and helped “fill in a lot of the gaps,” Rep. Bennie Thompson said at the time.

And she famously acknowledged that she agreed with Attorney General Bill Barr’s assessment that there was little evidence of fraud and it certainly wasn’t enough to overturn the election.

Dear old Dad was ready to burst a blood vessel over that one. He was definitely angry that Ivanka supported Barr’s sentiments here, Habermann told CNN Thursday.

.“Trump was very upset, particularly [with] Ivanka Trump,” Haberman said. “He was not happy about these video clips showing her suggesting that she had believed what Bill Barr was saying and Bill Barr, the former attorney general, of course, said that there wasn’t a widespread fraud and told Trump that and he testified to all that. My understanding is things have improved, but it definitely brought a strain to the relationship.”

It’s become quite clear that Ivanka is putting mileage between herself and her federally indicted father, and as he was handed a mind-boggling 37-count indictment in June for his alleged mishandling of classified documents, Ivanka was seen having fun on a yacht off the coast of Spain.

Dad was dealing with heavy-duty circumstances in court and Ivanka was living it up on a boat.

Indeed it seems like June was a happy month for Ivanka and Jared. They were on hand for the opulent wedding of Jordan’s Crown Prince Hussein, where they hobnobbed with British royalty and other well-heeled folks. And right before that, they spent a romantic getaway in Greece.

But Ivanka isn’t just putting physical mileage between herself and dear old Dad, she’s distancing herself emotionally as well. Like her stepmom, Melania, she was nowhere to be seen when he was being arraigned in a Miami federal court. And she’s purportedly now going by her married name “Kushner.”

Her efforts seem to be working, at least so far. A New York appeals court just dismissed all claims against her, in connection with a $250 million lawsuit accusing the Trump family business of “staggering fraud.”

And as we’ve noted before, she’s definitely not getting involved with her father’s 2024 presidential bid. Like her husband, she may be called upon to testify in the January 6 case just as Jared was. You can bet she won’t refrain from hurting her father’s feelings. She’s more than aware that she needs to protect herself.
