SHOCK POLL: Favorability for the Last 9 Presidents is Out and Trump is NOT Going to be Happy

Like his wife, Melania, former President Donald Trump isn’t doing so hot when it comes to approval ratings for recent former presidents. He’s lagging well behind several of his predecessors, according to a Gallup survey conducted last month, Newsweek reports.

The survey asked Americans whether they approve of certain former presidents and it was published Monday. Unsurprisingly, Trump’s approval rating was a dismal 46 percent compared to a 54 percent disapproval rating.

These figures come to light while Trump continues his campaign to win the 2024 Republican presidential nomination and a potential rematch against President Joe Biden.

This is the first time Trump has been included in the Gallup survey about former presidents. It was last conducted in 2018 when Trump was still president. The current survey found that only former President Richard Nixon, also a Republican, had a lower rating.

The 2023 Gallup poll was conducted between June 1 and 22 among a random sample of 1,013 adults living in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. There was a margin of error of plus or minus four percent.

Gallup notes Trump’s retrospective rating is higher than the analytics and advisory company’s average approval rating for the ex-president when he was in office. His average in Gallup’s survey is 41 percent, meaning his retrospective rating is five points higher, per Newsweek.

Retrospective approval ratings generally improve over time and they are usually higher than presidents’ average job approval ratings

According to Gallup:

“Not only do retrospective approval ratings tend to improve over time, but they also are generally higher than presidents’ average job approval ratings while they were in office. Across the nine presidents in the survey, the current retrospective approval exceeds their term average approval by seven points. Nixon is the only president with a lower retrospective rating (32 percent) than term average (49 percent).”

I’m willing to bet Trump’s ratings may also do a similar dive.

Trump is almost certainly irked that his predecessor, former President Barack Obama showed an approval rating of 63 percent in the poll, with only 37 percent disapproving. Surprisingly, Obama was still behind former President George H.W. Bush, who garnered a 66 percent approval rating, with 32 percent disapproving.

When he gets this news, will another Truth Social rant be forthcoming? He’s clearly jealous of Obama who always appears sophisticated and is clearly intelligent while Trump is paunchy and frequently looks like he slept in his business suits and has, as my mom would describe it, “hair that looks like it was combed with an egg beater.”

She wasn’t wrong.
